Pumping location

Im super frustrated! Today was my first day doing errands and shopping for the day without DS. We live in a small town so I drive an hour to the city. No where had a place for me to pump and a few people laughed at me for asking!!! Finally the manGer at gap gave me an extension cord!! Of course I should have pumped again, but had no where to so when I got back to DS I was super engorged! The car adapter would be great to have and I'm ordering it, but of course no where stocks it in store!

Re: Pumping location

  • It is frustrating. In my area, the mall and babies r us have a nursing/mother's room. Even ikea has a bathroom/nursing room. I usually pump in the car though.

Not sure what brand pump you have but Target and Buy Buy BAby sell the Medela car chargers in stores. I agree it can be so annoying to find a place to feed/pump. I'm feeding DD in the car as we speak. I saw an article online this morning that said Target must allow mothers to BF in their dressing rooms. Granted that doesn't really help with pumping if they don't have outlets but hopefully more stores will follow suit.
  • I bought a power adapter at Target for my pump. Then I can pump anywhere without plugging in. I pumped in the car on the way home.
  • My medela pump has a battery pack which has been great for long car rides! I'm currently bunked out in a handicapped dressin room stall at kohls to feed my DS hehe.
  • We live in central Louisiana, our target doesn't stock much. I just figured there would be more people out there willing to support bf.
  • Just to throw another suggestion out there (though i agree a car charger is best)... if you just need to "take the edge off" with engorgement, you could get a manual pump... then you could do it anywhere behind closed doors, or in the car.
  • I have the Medela double electric pump & use the car adapter but that's not always convenient so I just recently purchased the Medela hand pump & it works awesome!!! Empties my breasts quickly & only $30! Good to throw in your purse!
  • The hand pump is a good idea! Thanks
