  For me it hasn't done anything..I keep trying thinking maybe this time it will work, but it never does anything for me except give me Braxton hicks. I've been trying that since 37 weeks to try to dilate me and I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and my cervix is still completely closed

  With our first, we unintentionally induced labor that way at 39 weeks. Been at it for like a week so far with this one (I'm 37 weeks and very impatient this time) and no such luck. But I agree, the extra intimacy right before baby is due has been awesome and totally worth it, even if baby isn't ready yet.

  My SIL tells me to do it and to make sure the sperm gets up there because it can soften the cervix. However, I just realized last night that she has been induced with all of her children! So I won't be attempting it anymore probably because of the pain it causes.

  You cervix has to be ripe for that to work, at least from my experience. We were sexually active whole pregnancy, after an appt at doctor saying my cervix thinned- had sex and like the really great kind. The next morning I woke up with a bloody show. And he was born the next afternoon. Sex was the only thing my doctor ever told us to do.

  Someone said… If sex, eating pineapple, spicy food, walking, or even drinking Castro oil, actually works it was probably more of a coincidence and baby was just ready To come...as much as I want him to come now at 37+6 days I really do want him to come when he is ready

  My cervix is soft, I am dilated and effaced and he is in -2 station. Lost my mucus plug, had my membranes swept, and still zero signs of labor happening anytime soon. Tried pineapples, bouncing on the ball, walking, nipple stimulation and sex. Doesn't even give me Braxton hicks. So, like others said, baby will come when baby is ready! The guessing game is driving me crazy as well... If I could just know when it would happen that would be great! But, it is what it is... and we wake up every day wondering if today will be the day. Our time will come eventually!

  I'm been having sex this entire pregnancy and just had an appt today and I'm closed so I don't believe in it no more. I'm 40 weeks on Thursday

  We tried it the last few weeks of my pregnancy and it didn't do anyhing to induce labor. Like the other pp's have said, it was really nice to have the intimacy with DH though

  My husband and I have tried to have sex but I've ended up in horrible pain after and had to go to the hospital thinking I was in labor only to get sent back. Apparently just an irritation so definitely not doing that anytime soon!
