Cherry coke is mine. Every few days I'll let myself have a can of it. I'm not a big soda drinker and don't drink coffee normally so it's my caffeine some days lol
Here. :-/ It is one of my few unhealthy cravings. I think part of it is that if I've had a stressful day at work then it's a way to feel like I'm treating myself, since I can't have a glass of wine/beer anymore.
I haven't been able to completely cut my Coke intake for the life of me. Only once or twice a week though so I'm proud of myself. It just tastes that much better when I have one.
I'm the same way!! I try to limit it to a few times per week and after I have one I flush with water lol in my mind I'm flushing out the sugar and bad stuff from my baby hahaha. Then when I feel her kick after the first few cold sips I almost feel guilty! Ugh!
I haven't completely cut out soda either but I have cut back. I just try not to go over my recommended caffiene allowance and I buy the small cans so it's just enough to satisfy the craving

Same here! I went my first three months without drinking any soda and I finally had to break down and drink one. It was heavenly!
I haven't cut soda out either but I make sure I have like sprite, 7-up, etc. Soda's with no caffeine. I usually have one glass a day....if that. Every once in a great while I give myself a cherry coke fix! I feel like when I go to the store now I have more beverages than food! I can only drink so much water and need some variety!
I love sprite it's my new drink since it had no caffeine I'll drink it once and a while and as for coke I used to drink it but not anymore well I had a little when my husband had some I just wanted a taste
I treat myself every time I go to Target. I love fountain Dr Pepper. I get a medium xup and fill it with ice then add the soda. I probably get about 6 oz of soda but it tastes so good and I love to crunch the ice!
I do seltzer for those flavor d carbonated ice drinks that are natural flavor no sugar/cal. I think those taste just like soda. But sometimes I do need a pick me up of caffeine so will have a diet coke once a week or every other week. I don't drink coffee either but normally drink ice tea with lunch for some caffeine
I really miss diet coke- before i got pregnant, I used to drink several cans a day (I know! terrible!). I cut down significantly in the first tri, and by week 14, I went cold turkey. I miss it SO much! I already told dh that I want a 20oz diet coke (ice cold) with a bagel, cream cheese and lox post delivery
I crave Vanilla Coke all the time. I don't have soda very often, but when I do it's usually root beer, sprite or sometimes I try the caffeine free Coke but it just doesn't taste the same.

haha @mom4liak - whenever I go to Target I treat myself too!!!!
Does anyone know is it better to drink diet or regular sodas to fulfill those cravings? Never have more than a couple a week but I get worried about the sugar in regular, and worried about all the fake stuff in diet.
Before I was pregnant I would only drink diet soda. While being pregnant I only drink regular. I have some weird thought in my head about artificial sweeteners. When I'm not pregnant though I drink way more soda hence drinking diet. While pregnant a barely have one glass a day.
When I do drink something like pepsi or cherry pepsi I've been buying those mini cans that are "made with real sugar". For some reason it makes me feel better about drinking it! And it's a small portion size!
I used to crave soda so bad, ad then DH and I went a year without it . . . I still love me a diet Dr Pepper every once in a while. I try to stick to flavored seltzer, but sometimes I need a diet DP!
@Vstille2712, honesty I don't think one is really worse or better than the other. Artificial sweeteners can make you crave more sweets, and aren't really great for you. Of course high fructose corn syrup isn't good for keeping your blood sugar stable, but all sodas are full of junk. If you're gonna drink soda, just try to limit it to a couple times a week.
I don't drink coffee, so I usually have a soda a day. My doctor actually advised me to have a serving daily, just to avoid headaches from caffeine withdrawal. He said one caffeinated soda (or really more than one) would keep me well below the suggested threshold of 200mg per day, and would keep me from having undue headaches (I already have chronic migraines too). I say give in and just make sure you're drinking plenty of water and voiding any extra sugar and caffeine otherwise.
It's nothing like an ice cold coke! They are definitely my drink of choice! I sometimes have one a day, much less than what I drank when I wasn't pregnant.
I have a cup of black tea in the mornings (30-80 mg of caffeine) and an occasional caffeinated soda. Coke only has 35 mg in it, so it's well within the under 200 guidelines given by my doctor.
@jenspeake, I'm with you on the diet sodas. I cut them out completely since being pregnant. I just don't trust aspartame. I justify the calories by reminding myself I'm not drinking any wine calories anymore, so it's okay every once in awhile
This may be a stupid question buuuuut Is soda bad for the baby? My doctor has never mentioned cutting it out. I know it's bad in general (sugar/aspartame etc) but does it actually cause any harm to the baby? I drink a can a day in general, always caffeine free stuff.
There were times long before I was pregnant that I craved soda and nothing else could satisfy the craving. If I didn't have it in the house I would have to go out and get it somewhere. Pregnancy has only exacerbated it. Early on in pregnancy I only wanted ginger ale, which is caffeine free. I still really need it from time to time, but find that the more I drink it, the more I crave it. So I still don't keep it in the house and only buy a small bottle if I absolutely must have it.
***For all my fellow diet soda lovers, there's a brand called Diet Rite that doesn't have caffeine or aspartame! It's not quite Diet Coke but it'll do the trick. ***
I've always been a diet soda drinker even though I know I shouldn't put that shizz in my body. I fully intended to abstain this pregnancy, but that hasn't worked out. I'm much happier when I allow myself one can or fountain drink a day. I hate Sprite (it made my heartburn worse), so I'd have to drink regular Coke, Dr. Pepper, or root beer, but those were too sweet. Then I found Diet Rite and my life was semi-normal again.
Lately though drinking any soda makes me thirstier than ever so I end up pounding a few glasses of water. I think I'm sticking to water and coffee from now on. (
I heard diet is worse than regular when pregnant but I'll be honest I haven't really researched it. When I do drink it I drink regular. Coke with ice from McDonalds is the best! I don't know what they put in it but it is always perfection
I love fountain Cokes or Cherry Coke. I try to only indulge a few times a week and usually only get a small. Since I've cut out coffee it helps when I need a pick me up.
You ladies are so awesome and real! I was so worried I was gonna get preached to! My husband brought me home some Pepsi with real sugar both in regular and vanilla. It is SO good. He makes monster energy drinks and lots of crappy sodas as part of his job so he knows all the stuff that goes into it. He brought it home for me today and said "at least drink it with real sugar!" Lol
I have one a day. Regular coke has been my only craving this entire pregnancy so I have to cave. I stay away from all other caffeine though so that's where I justify it. As long as I stay under the recommended caffeine intake and continue drinking lots of water, I don't think it's a big deal.
Before becoming pregnant, I would only ever drink diet soda and was pretty well addicted to energy drinks. It was really bad so I've come a long way!
I can't kick it either! I've been limiting my diet coke. I also don't drink coffee so I'm concerned more with the artificial sweeteners than the caffeine.
Soda has been huge craving this pregnancy and normally I never drink it. I have to say that I made myself a deal to stop drinking it because it makes me feel horrible.
