Boobs!

Anyone else's boobs feeling really heavy between feeds?? I'm told that this "fullness" feeling will subside and they will feel more normal soon. But when is soon?? My LO was 6 weeks yesterday and I still feel so heavy!!! I also have an oversupply which is likely contributing but my gosh I would love to feel a bit normal in that area again. Between this heaviness and sore nipples, I don't think I'll ever be the same again.

On a side note, I realized yesterday how much bigger my boobs have gotten. Once I lose this baby belly, I will look awesome!!! Haha!

Re: Boobs!

  • Yup! I feel like I letdown like every 2 hours too! I was pretty small chested before getting preggo and even now my boobs are touching and I have cleavage! I never had that problem before. My husband is liking it though! Lol. I'd like to fit into some of my shirts though...

I am glad someone else is going through this! My boobs are rock hard, nipples are super super sore, and I letdown all the time! Also, leaking all the time and I feel like there is milk everywhere. I hope this gets better for us!
  • I go through several disposable breast pads a day. I pump to empty once a day and store one side's then feed baby a bottle with the other. I feel so relieved after that! I'm going to enjoy these boobs as long as I can though bc they shrank back after DD1...just bought a new swimsuit with lots of cleavage lol!
  • I have the same problem. I have to pump once in the middle of the night and once first thing when I wake up. I usually pump 10-12 ounces at a time, that's how full I get :( I even have to pump a little even before or after each feeding. I definitely have an oversupply but I'm not complaining bc I have stored a ton of breast milk! The things we do for our LO! I'm really happy I won't have to give her formula!
  • The fullness should subside by week 8. My LO is 9wo and I don't feel full all the time now.
  • Thank you @lestes1121 !! DS will be 7 weeks on Wednesday so you have given me a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

I still feel so engorged at night, although it's definitely getting better. But I can still easily tell which boob I nursed off of last because they are so uneven. It also doesn't help that DS only nurses for 5 minutes so I have to go back to the same breast after he burps so that he will get the hind milk. I feel like I would be more even if I switched breasts partway through. But anytime I try that his poop turns green :(
  • Keep him on the same breast then. My LO only eats for 5-7 mutes total because my flow is so fast. I can pump 5 ounces in less in 5 minutes. So we only do one breast per feeding. You will still get a fullness if your LO spaces feedings out longer than they normally do but other than that the full feeling goes away. Which it kind of makes you panic a little. Or it did me. I felt like I was drying up but I'm not.
  • i liked the fullness that I had the first time around. it lasted a few days with this LO but now they just feel sad and floppy all the time.
  • My boobs are hard as bricks still every couple days. I feel like I'm over it and then bam. Engorged and sore and I feel like I let down all the time! She had a growth spurt day on Saturday so she ate a lot. Is that why we are back to so much milk? How come it only takes one day to make more but it seems like 3 or 4 of engorgement to back off.
  • I'm 9 weeks postpartum with a 1-2oz per 15 min pumping session supply and my boobs hurt and are rock hard several times a day! Mostly in the morning.
  • Today was the first time in forever that I woke up for his middle of the night feed and wasn't engorged!!!! I almost cried I was so happy.

Then I woke up for his next feed engorged on the right but DS was still able to latch thankfully.

He will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. I'm really hoping we are making some progress now!!
