Trouble Eating?

Most everyone I see posting or talk to say that they've been absolutely starving. Around 7 weeks my appetite completely left and I'm lucky if I can get 3 bites out of every meal. Sometimes even after eating so little I feel so full and sick afterwards. Just wanted to see if anyone else is practically force-feeding themselves tiny portions at every meal. Oh how I wish I was starving!

Re: Trouble Eating?

  • I'll be starving but then can only eat a small portion until I feel like I'm going to bust!

  • @middy411 I'm going through the same thing. I'll be hungry for about 5 minutes and then it passes. Then later I'll be so hungry I think I'm actually going to die and then I barely eat anything. Don't force yourself to eat more than what you can, just try and make your snacks really nutrient-packed
  • In the morning I'm usually hungry but later in the day the thought of eating just becomes repulsive. I pretty much don't eat dinner or just convince myself to have a cheese stick or something.
  • Yes. I force feed myself. It will get better! Usually once you hit the second trimester you get some relief, appetite returns, you still have room to actually eat lol! Then you'll be hungry during the third tri but you'll feel full faster.

  • Ah, so thankful for the replies. DH has been getting on my case saying that the doctor is going to yell at me when he sees that I've lost 10 lbs and can barely finish 1/4 of a normal meal throughout days of eating. I tried a smoothie this morning just to get some "food" in me without having to actually eat haha
  • @middy411 I've lost 10 pounds too and my doctor gave me the side-eye but just prescribed diclegis for nausea. I let her know that when I found out I was pregnant, I dramatically improved my eating habits and have been working out as much as I can considering the nausea. She was fine and just told me how much weight she wanted me to gain over the whole pregnancy
  • I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks but my nutritionist assured me it isn't uncommon to lose weight first tri, that once your body adjusts to the new hormones you should start gaining the weight. So no reason to fret.
  • I have been hovering the same weight, but just dont want to eat. If anything Ihave cereal and fruit through the day. I never really want to eat. Its really annoying at dinner because my DH gets pretty concerned, but the thought of eating half the time just makes me feel like crap!
  • Omg! Reading this makes me feel so much better! There's days when all I want to do is eat food but there are days and every single morning when I look at food and just want to throw up again. I secretly crave all sorts of food but I have to wait for my nausea to wear off and then I can go at it. I'm skinny already so I try to eat but its hard. Plus I know this is off topic- I can't drink as much water as I use to because I'll get a tummy ache and throw up. So I do about 16 ounces a day but that's not enough for me.
  • Food aversions here too! I eat half a bowl of cereal for breakfast, if I can. Sandwich for lunch and cross my fingers that I can keep it down, more often than not I can't. :/ Dinner is also a challenge, I'll try and eat spent hung heavy to recoop but it usually backfires and I get sick. :/ fx that we all feel better soon.
