Is anyone else dealing with having low amniotic fluid?
Just wondering if they've found out what's causing yours and how they're handling your pregnancy now.
I had an ultrasound at 21 weeks where I was told baby had a thickened nuchal fold and my fluid was low.
They sent me to a different hospital for another ultrasound two weeks later and they determined that the nuchal fold is fine but my AFI is still low so they are bringing me back in another two weeks.
She asked a bunch of questions about blood pressure, any Tylenol and such I had taken. She confirmed the baby's kidneys and bladder are working properly as well as my placenta so she is at a loss.
Re: Low amniotic fluid
I'm very grateful that baby seems to be doing just great. She is right on track with her growth which makes me feel much better.
I'd just really like some sort of explanation, you know?
I have been drinking tons of water (about 3-4 liters a day minimum) but just today my doctor said my urine looked much too concentrated so i'll be drinking much more.
Im 24 weeks tomorrow twins and one of them has had a really low amniotic fluid level since week 16. The one twin currently has a pool of 9cm and the other twins amniotic pool is 2cm.
Like you, the one with low fluid has functiining kidneys and bladder etc and is growing consistantly so we are just being monitored weekly by our fetal medicine team (we are scanned and have fetal dopplers done).
My team still seem not to worried at the moment as she is stable and progressing ok but are continuing to do weekly observations.
Please keep us posted or message me if you want to chat :-)
I'm trying not to worry too much. She seems to be doing great so i'm happy with that.
Please feel free to message me as well or update on this post
It's nice to have someone else going through something similar as it seems to be fairly uncommon in the second trimester.
I meant to update but haven't had the time.
That's amazing news! You must be thrilled! I hope she continues to gain fluid
I had another ultrasound a few days ago and the fluid levels remain the same. No change whatsoever.
She has gained 7 oz in the two weeks which is good.
I go back for another one in 3 weeks time and she has ordered my doctor to send me to the ob that will be delivering asap (the part of Canada i'm in has your family dr overseeing your pregnancy until you're about 34/35 weeks when we go see the obgyn that delivers the baby).

I'm not very knowledgeable in having too much fluid.
How is lo doing?
My gut feeling is they'll keep an eye on her and as long as she and I are doing well they may induce once I hit full term.
If things take a turn for the worst it'll be a different story though.

My account wasn't letting me.
My fingers are crossed for you!
I think the worst part is just not having answers as to why.
