My dog is acting strange

Do you think I could be in labor? I don't have any other labor symptoms.

You guys, this is a serious question that was posed on the Third Trimester board this weekend by someone who is 35w. And somehow all of the responses are actually validating the question!! I know that some pets sense pregnancy and act more clingy, but this question just blows my mind. I just can't with the stupid.

Re: My dog is acting strange

  • So the only thing that *might* validate this that I can think of would be that recent study that shows a baby will release a certain hormone to initiate the softening of the cervix, and given that dogs can smell hormonal changes, that *might* be what is happening. But that wouldn't mean she is already "in labor". There are plenty of things that need to happen and it seems silly to base a L&D visit solely on your dog's behavior. Especially since your dog can't tell you if he's acting weird just because he saw a squirrel out the window.
