Second guessing gender

Anyone else have this fear now that tags are off and baby clothes are washed and put away?
My ultrasound tech didn't seem 100% to me even though my husband said he believed her. And I am just talking crazy lol! My 1st daughter there was no question. This one was more " lady like" and shy during the anatomy scan.
I of course would love this baby boy or girl but I have a TON of girls stuff from my 4 year old daughter and now this girl.

Re: Second guessing gender

  • We had a panorama in addition to the anatomy scan during the ultrasound. And my little girl was very loud and proud to show her parts. No doubt here!

  • In the back of my mind i thought "what if" even after 3 sonograms. At our 4th sono I asked the tech to check again and let me tell you, there is no doubt we are definitely having a girl! Even I could see that!
  • I started getting this feeling the other day. Not only about the gender being wrong but also that maybe (even though after all of appointments and tests and the anatomy scan) that the doctors and midwives missed something that could be wrong with little one. Try not to worry! I'm sure it's just the nerves of knowing baby is on her way. :)
  • Ha yeah... Even after the Verifi test plus both the ultrasound tech and radiologist saying "definitely a girl!" Several time - she was also spread eagle a lot...

Just natural to worry about things you can't control I guess

I just joke and say if it is a boy he will be wearing a lot of pink. My husband still thinks/wants her to be a boy.

    Exactly.
  • Nope because you can't change it either way. If you're going to find out then you deal with it. With my first, I knew I was having a boy, but I registered for all gender neutral so I could use it with my second child regardless of boy or girl.

  • It's one of those things that are completely out of your control. Let's say the tech did, in fact, get the sex wrong...what can you do about it now? Try not to worry or stress. Boy or girl, you are having a baby and isn't that what's exciting!
  • Yeah if Tanner turned out to be a girl then Marybeth (that's our girl name we picked out) will be wearing some boy clothes and have a blue room haha
  • Yeah Ive actually been thinking about that all morning , since now I was hanging up all of our LOs clothes thinking " I hope he doesn't come out to be a girl!" I mean anyone that's done an ultrasound is 100 percent positive it's a boy and looks like one every time . So no doubt about it . We've also had 4d ultrasounds done on 2 different occasions and still the same . But what's making me scared is I was supposed to be a boy and doctors we so sure and until the day I came out I was no longer a boy lol but then again technology has dramatically changed since then also .
    I just need to get over my fear . He's a boy and that's it ! >:D<
  • I definitely have this fear.  Mainly because I've had an easy pregnancy and my doctor doesn't do ultrasounds after the AS unless there's a specific reason to.  So we haven't had one since the AS.  Of course we would adjust and it would be fine.  But it would be a shock for sure.  I'm thinking about asking the doctor at my next appt if she'll do a quick ultrasound on the roll-in machine just to ease my mind.  We'll see if they will or not, since there's really no medical reason to.
  • Me too! This pregnancy is 100% different than my daughter AND so many people tell me I am carrying "boy" I feel like I could easily adjust if it was a boy too. It is just mentally at this stage when you really start to connect with this little human. The personality and routine they already have. I had a dream with me daughter before the AS that it was a girl but this time no dream. Strange huh.
I too haven't had and other AS since my 19 week. So, we had a one shot deal.
It was hard to see this ones goods and I was ok to take it as a sign that we weren't meant to know. But then she saw it and showed us.
  • Even if your baby comes out the opposite gender you expected, just put them in whatever clothes. Honestly nobody can tell the difference it seems. My daughter can be wearing a pink dress, but I guess because she never wears bows and headbands people still call her "him" and "he." I don't even correct people most of the time.

Thats always my worry, i ask them to verify the sex eveytime i get a US lol, you can never be to safe!

36 weeks along and i posted a 3d US pic, everyone is scaring me asking if im sure there isnt a hidden twin in there because apparently some people can "see a second face". Now theyre telling me i REALLY need to go get an ultrasound to verify there is just one baby because " that happens ALL the time and its not uncommon for a 2nd baby to go unnoticed in ultrasounds" way to stress me the hell out for the last week!

Take a look for yourself, i dont see a second face personally but its still worrying me now lol

Seriously, this is not something to be so concerned about. You couldn't change it if were wrong!

  • @astreetx3 I see where it kind of looks like a face. It must be a guardian angel! O:-)
  • Yes, the thought crossed my mind and like pp have mentioned, if my little princess turns out to be a prince he'll be wearing a lot of pink :)
  • @astreetx3, it is not possible for there to be a missed twin this far along. You are definitely only having one baby.

  • SO much so that I put my wishes regarding circumcision into my birth plan even though I am expecting a girl! U/S are never 100% and I know someone who was told it was a girl and then had a boy. Every single person who sees me thinks I am having a boy. I don't put much credence in old wives tales, but I am ready for anything. :)
