Bottle sanitizer?

I'm thinking of using the playtex drop-ins. Playtex sells microwaveable bottle sanitizers and I'm wondering if anyone has found the microwave or freestanding sanitizers useful or necessary? I guess I'm thinking it would be easier because you can clean ten at once instead of just one at a time - and without having the run the dishwasher.

Re: Bottle sanitizer?

  • I used the microwaveable sanitizer for pump parts when I pumped at work. Otherwise a giant pot of boiling water is just as effective for sanitizing.

  • My friend swears by the microwaveable sterilizing bags. Not sure if this is the same thing, but if it is you still have to wash the parts to get all the food debris out before you put them in the microwave.

Pot of boiling water. Honestly when I bottle-fed some of my kids I didn't sanitize the bottles after every use. That seems excessive and unnecessary. I sanitized them before initial use and then just hand-washed them thereafter.
