Today is the big day! I am so excited for my baby shower and to see people I haven't seen since my wedding last june! I am a little but nervous...mainly just the opening of presents around a bunch of people. Anybody else feel like that?

  • I hate opening gifts in front of everyone, too. We're playing gift bingo while I open to take the heat off of me a little. I know the hosts will usually keep everything moving pretty quickly, so hopefully it's not as bad as you think it will be.

    Have fun at your shower!!

  • The worst part for me was sweating opening gifts.Ugh. Yuck! maybe you won't have that problem lol have fun!
  • I had mine yesterday and got all sweaty during the present opening too! Weird!
But although I'm not a fan of opening presents in front of everyone it means a lot to them so just make sure to make lots of eye contact with your thank yous and be super excited about everything. It's all so dang miniature and adorable I found it way more fun than other events. Also, if we can get through labor we can get through some friendly present opening! Do it mama!
  • I got sweaty opening my gifts too!! Lol And it was awkward getting to larger presents that I would be standing up trying to unwrap and having to bend over and what not in front of anyone. If any kids come that ask to help unwrap I would totally let them. My DSD came as well as about 4 other little girls that I helped take turns helping me when it was a gift that was wrapped instead of in a bag. They loved unwrapping and helping hold things up to show everyone and it was a big help to me!! Enjoy your day!

  • Ours is this coming Saturday and my SIL doesn't want to allot time for gift opening. She thinks it can be very time consuming (the shower is 3 hours) and that the guests will find it boring to watch us open gifts. In addition to that, she knows I get uncomfortable when a lot of attention is on me. I'm not sure about this though. I'm worried my guests will think it's rude if I don't open their gifts and thank them right then and there. What do you guys think?
  • Open the gifts. It is rude not to. As you open them thank the people and make small talk for why you love it. Get the kids involved by giving them the ribbons and tissue paper.

Lol this was me yesterday!!!! I was so hot! Sweating like crazy. One of my friends jobs was to hold water for me so I could gulp down between gifts.

I agree that it'll come across as rude. I'm going to rearrange the agenda for that day ;)
  • My three year old niece helped me open gifts at mine. That totally made the gift opening process less painful! Moral of the story, borrow (or steal) a small child. ;)
  • Haha glad I'm not alone in the sweat department! I did for both my bridal and baby showers! Guess the gift opening can be counted towards workouts ;)

I was so nervous when I stood up. I was like oh gosh there will be a puddle of sweat in my chair when I stand. I will forever be picked on!
  • Oh my goodness, I HATE being the center of attention so my baby shower was hard for me. You can do it! Have fun and remember, everyone wants to love in you and your lo!

  • I had the same worry, but we played bingo during the gift opening and it really wasnt bad at all! Hope you had a great time!
