Advice? Pep talk? Anything?

I am officially 19 weeks pregnant. I just had an anatomy scan at 18w 4d. Baby girl was very active, had a strong heartbeat, and measured perfectly. I have been able to feel her since about 16 weeks. I have felt nothing for the past three days. I was really dumb and chose to "Google" my concerns. All I got was horrible stories that have made me start panicking. I'm not a dramatic person, but I just want to know if anyone else has gone days without feeling LO after feeling movement so regularly? Any feedback is appreciated.

Re: Advice? Pep talk? Anything?

  • I spoke to my mom about this recently. She said that I was a lazy baby, but that my sister was more sporadic. Sometimes she was calm, and sometimes she was a tornado in there. I suggest that if you are really concerned to call your doctor. If your questions and concerns are unfounded, so what? It's better to have asked for the professional advice that you need to de-stress then it is for you to be in a panic. Also, in hindsight, never google symptoms like ever....they will scare the poop out of you and ppl can and do put whatever they want on the internet. But again, call your doc and express your concerns. I hope that everything goes well and prayers are with you. *hugs*

  • Thank you for your support. I am definitely going to contact my doctor. I think I'm scared and overly emotional right now. All of that plus Google is a very terrible combination. I will not, at least I will TRY not to google anymore issues. I'll update soon!
  • It can be normal at this stage in pregnancy to go days with out kicks. Some mums dont feel baby move till after 20 weeks. If you are worried try drinking some orange juice and lying down some times there movements can go un noticed when not concentrating on them. But ultimatly i would definatly suggest booking an appoitment for a doppler check to put your mind at rest.
  • It's totally normal to go a day or a few without feeling baby right now. I second PP, make sure you are hydrated. Try the OJ and relaxing. I usually find that stretching gets my baby moving as well.
  • My OB will normally let nervous moms come in once a week to hear the heartbeat. So if your nervous, I would call your OB and ask if you could just come in for a heartbeat check. I hope everything's ok. I had one day last week where I was absolutely certain that something was wrong with my baby. No symptoms, bleeding or cramping, just an overwhelming feeling of doom. It was gone the next day, so I think it was just hormones. Plus I haven't been able to feel my baby at all (at 17+5) and I'm starting to freak out about that, so it's a bad combination. Let us know how you're doing!!

  • I recently bought a Doppler and when I'm feeling anxious i "tune in". This has relieved a lot of doubt and anxiety most pregnant women get and what I was feeling every once and a while. They are only $50 bucks online(best purchase so far). DH thinks I'm normal again lol.
  • We heard her heartbeat for the first time on our home Doppler. Also, the day after I posted this she decided to let me know she is okay in there. I have been feeling her again. It puts my mind at ease.

I now also blame my hormones for my panic. I started crying the other night for no reason. Grabbed some snacks and a chick flick and locked DH out of our guest room. I pigged out and cried the entire time I was in there. Now I'm back to normal. Pregnancy is a very emotional process.

In future if you have not felt baby for awhile you can trydrinking a cold sugary drink and laying down, often that will get baby moving.
