Breastfeeding

Smoking.

Yes I know I should stop smoking, I've slowed down quite a bit but I want to breastfeed and I've seen people smoke while breastfeeding (not at the second time obviously) but what are the major issues? I know I need to quite and I'm trying so please don't bash on me for that. What are ways to stop and how will it effect me while breastfeeding?

Re: Smoking.

  • Simply living with a smoker increases the risk of sids. Scary stuff, but true.

I agree with a pp, I'm sure your doctor can help with practical suggestions.

  • I totally agree with PP.  You should definitely STOP smoking now or sooner.

That being said, I think that breast feeding would be the best option for feeding your baby whether you smoke or not.
