I'm very close with my boss, so I'll likely tell her after my first doctors appt. You should just base it off of your personal position and how the office will be affected during your absence. Will you need a replacement? Will someone in the office take on your duties? It really will just depend.
I work and I told my boss only because of my past loss and the heavy lifting I have to do. (I work in a liquor store) so I just wanted him to be aware just incase anything did happen this time around. Plus I'm also super close with him and his sons and I know they would be there for me if anything did happen. Plus when I'm going to the bathroom every 5 min he kinda almost knew before I did. However who ever does end up replacing me I'll be the one to train them. (Even if they just cover durring appointments at first)
I work for a judge who has the biggest mouth on the West Coast. So for that reason and the fact that she claims to be retiring in Sept (which this is at least the 4 times she's claimed to be retiring and hasn't) I won't be telling her until i absolutely have to.
I'm going to try to wait until 4 months. This will depend on if my nausea gets worse and if I can keep the doctor appointments not-obvious. My work will likely be absorbed by the others on my team so I don't think I'd be making it hard on them as far as having to bring someone else in.

I am telling him Monday (which is after I have heard a heartbeat). I am in an odd position where from Jan -July 2016 I am supposed to do two mini research projects. I am meeting with them bc I will be still getting paid from teaching through Sept and have 2 months free so I am going to ask to start early so I can do 1 mini project involving benchwork now when I am more mobile. Then my second one will be computer analysis base which will be easier to manage working from home when I have time off with baby. I get 6 months paid leave but at the same time I want to complete my programme on time so I have the motivation to work for myself when I can.

I've already told my boss and a few close co-workers. They're all moms so I figured they would catch on anyways with my symptoms and since we spend so much time together at work. I also wanted to make her aware so that she knew why I wasn't volunteering for more things, and make sure she didn't assign me too many cases during these next few weeks. I also have billable hours so I wanted to prepare her as to why I may bill less hours this quarter. She's been great and work has been manageable so far.
I'll be telling my boss after my first doctor appointment (in a week) and probably our vp (bc I think he already knows). We have a major event in March that I clearly won't be able to travel across the country for. They start delegates roles as early as September.
Plus my boobs are already getting bigger... They'll probably tell all before I do!
My boss is on a holiday. I'll see her again in August when I'm eight weeks. I'll tell her then, because we're really close. Also, we share an office and if this pregnancy is anything like last time around, the fact that I need to the bathroom to vomit every hour and am munching on crackers all the time might be a giveaway. She's leaving in November, anyway.
Any workings moms who have a hostile work environment: when you tell your boss, follow up with an email that says you're pregnant again as soon as you return to your desk (you might want to disguise this with one or two follow up questions on insurance issues or whatever). That way, if you get fired and you decide to take legal action, you have some proof that your boss knew of your pregnancy. *I am not a lawyer and I don't live in the US, so don't take my word for it*
I will tell my boss after the first trimester if not a little later. I'm an outside sales rep, so I don't see him that much. With DS I waited until 12 weeks but I was at a different company where I was closer to my boss
I plan on telling my hr department at 12 weeks, followed by telling the partners in my department (I am a lawyer), followed by my colleagues. I don't want to tell them until the risk of miscarriage is lower.
I don't have a boss since I'm an owner of the company, but I have told our managing partner, since he is the one that will be covering most my files while I'm on leave and will need to find coverage for the handful he won't cover.
I'm a teacher, so I plan to tell him as soon as I hear a heartbeat. I would prefer to wait longer, but I know he's working on the schedule for next year and being gone for the last 3 months may change how he wants to schedule my classes. He was my teacher AND class advisor in high school, so I trust him very much and feel totally comfortable confiding in him. Heck, I've even told him I plan to go back to college in a year or two for a career change and he's totally fine with it.
