Booster car seat

I have been trying to decide on a new seat for DS because I'll need to use his seat now for the baby. I originally was looking at the graco nautilus because I always buy graco but it seems so bulky. I came across the Evenflo securekid DLX/LX and the Evenflo chase LX both with great reviews. Anyone use either of these seats for their toddlers? I'm wondering how they fit in the car. I have a jeep liberty and it's a little tight in the back when the seats are in. TIA!

Re: Booster car seat

  • We have the nautilus in one car and the evenflo maestro in the other.
I prefer the nautilus' buckle better. It's easier. But I don't like that it only has one cup holder. For some reason I can never get the buckle undone on the evenflo. It's in my husband's truck, so I don't use it a lot.
I have a Ford Escape and once we add the baby seat I don't think there will be room for anything else in the back seat.

  • I suggest asking on the car seats for littles facebook page. They have certified car seat techs that will tell you what will work best for your child's stats, your car and your budget. Chances are if you have a toddler they are too young for any type of booster and needs a convertible seat. New AAP recommendations are children are safest rear facing to min age 2 and age 4 is preferred.

It depends on their size. I would have kept my daughter rear facing until 3, however she grew out of her convertible seats in both the height and weight by 2.5. At 3.5 there's not a convertible that will fit her RFing. So while those recommendations are great they are not always doable and would be unsafe if we kept her in a convertible.
  • Agreed. @Pontot31 My son is already over the height and weight of his convertible seat at 2.5. The booster car seats a designed to seat a child with a five point harness. I didn't mean a booster with just a seat belt. @megandchase
