Bellaband/Maternity Clothes

Hi ladies :) I have googled this topic and all of the responses seem to be from 2010 and dated. I'll be 12 weeks monday and was wondering when everyone started wearing their maternity clothes? I purchased a Bellaband and was thinking of breaking it out for work Monday..I've put on a few pounds and by the end of the day am so bloated.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

Re: Bellaband/Maternity Clothes

  • I'm already back in maternity pants, those things are comfortable!! Shirts I usually start wearing around 16-20 weeks to show off the bump :)

I broke out my maternity clothes at 5 weeks, no way I'd fit in jeans, even with a maternity band.  But this is #8, you'll probably last longer than me if this is your first!

  • My first baby, pants at 12 weeks, shirts around 16 maybe? I don't remember exactly on the shirts, but I'm also quite long-torsoed so that has something to do with that.

Second baby, pants at 8 weeks, shirts at 12.

Third baby, pants at 8 weeks, no need at all for shirts yet at 9 weeks.

  • I started wearing the bellaband two weeks ago. My pants are just too tight even now with a hair tie. I'm due 2/5/16 so I'm 10 weeks.

  • I think last time I started wearing maternity pants at around 12 weeks, tops around 20. With this being my second pregnancy, it could be sooner but for now still in my own clothes without an issue at 8+4.
  • I think I used the band around 11-12 weeks with my first and that lasted until about 14-15 weeks before I went full maternity pants. Some people hated the band but it worked great for me !
  • Related to this question--any tall ladies on here? I need long size pants, so most stores won't work. Has anyone found a great brand of long size maternity pants? Need things for work...

I would recommend just buying normal pants, maybe in a size or two bigger and getting the Bella band. That's what I had to do because it was so hard to find maternity dress pants that were long enough for me.

Darn, that's what I was afraid of. I did get a band (an off-brand one. May have to upgrade to a Bella) but I'm super tall and will still look like I'm preparing for a flood. Oh, well.

@cantobean The Gap has maternity pants for tall mamas. I'm super tall, too.
  • FTM. I'll be 11 weeks Monday I bought the band and used once on a pair of my "tight jeans" and because some pants are tight when I'm sitting for long periods for work. Also used the rubberband trick yesterday for a pair of tight shorts...worked well for now!
  • @cantobean Gap maternity does carry longs in certain styles. I'm only 5'8" and buy longs sometimes but read some reviews that people my height said they were too long? Fingers crossed for you!
  • I'm approaching 11 weeks and can barely fit into my clothes. So far I've gained close to 4 pounds. They're so tight around my waist. I purchased a Bella band and I'm going to try it out tomorrow. I'm considering buying some maternity pants, just so I can be comfortable. I do have a little bit of a belly- combo of fat and bloat- so I could wear maternity shirts, but I would totally look 6 months along. I'll probably just purchase regular shirts in a bigger size or maybe find some loose fitting tops.

I got some great advice last night from a mom- wear maternity pants as soon as you feel uncomfortable in your regular clothes. Don't hold out just because you feel like you should.
I appreciated that, because I'm only 9weeks today, but am already struggling to fit into my normal wardrobe. Hoping to find some consignment/hand-me-down maternity clothes!
  • Go for it, you should definately be comfortable!  I broke out my maternity pants a week ago.
