Welp, it's the second night I'm up late, so I thought I'd ask.
Last pregnancy I was late and got induced due to low fluids- everything went fine but long. People keep telling me it will go faster this time... This is actually something that I keep dwelling on. I have a doula, so I'm not "worried" per se, but I really don't know that much about going into spontaneous labor (yes I've taken the classes). But I also know when you're in it, it's different. Every labor/birth story is unique.
Any tips from moms of multiples. Were you nervous at all? Second timers, are you excited or nervous? Just wanting to hear from other ladies about this. Thanks in advance!
Re: Second baby/labor- any advice?
This time the doctors are telling me to head to the hospital when I even just have 2 contractions close together! I thought that sounded a bit extreme but she kept stressing it over and over at my last appt. I was like what about the 5-1-1 like last time? And she said nope, you have 2 strong contractions close together I want you headed over.
So I too am curious as to how fast second labors went. STM's are you going to hold out for an hours worth of contractions before calling? I don't want to be hanging at the hospital again forever.
I have been intending to practise hypno birthing this time but keep being short of 'quiet' time to practise thanks to toddler DD. Hope to do some in the next few weeks.
Also, it was more painful in the days after the birth the second time around when my uterus was shrinking back. Never had an issue the first time but the second time it was painful. This time I'm expecting it again and I'm gonna try and stay on top of the pain meds.
I have heard this about #2 also, that the pain after is worse as the uterus shrinks....oh joy!
My second I had 4 hrs labour, 2 in the hospital. My contracts were 2 mins apart and I felt like I needed to push but I was only 6-7 cm dilated so they actually had to slow labour a little.
My third was another induction due to complications. Had him 5 hrs after starting pictocin but active labour was fast. My Dr said it was only 20 mins.
The post partum pain was worse than the one before.
This is my fourth and no complications so far so my Dr wants me to labour naturally. I'm happy about that but a little worried about making it to the hospital in time.
Good to know about the post partum pain @banfrog @KateDerek - any advice for better post pain management- anything we should ask for?
@kettlekitten I've got my toddler too 17 months when the baby will be born. How about you? Kinda excited, but nervous about how she'll react. And quiet time is non existent! It's the insomnia that got me thinking, haha!
@Startingagain2015 how exciting for you! I bet you'll do great, but I'm sure technology has changed a ton too! Congrats!
@Joie80 sounds like we'd be mom friends... I had no birth plan and still don't. It keeps me relaxed in labor instead of uptight about my birth story.
@jlsweets EXACTLY. My doc keeps saying it will go faster. I guess I'll just head in when my doula says I'm in labor!
@Miz_Liz so excited to have my body back! But taking rest in my soul that I've done this before! What a miracle we women are capable of!!!
Thanks again all!
