What dose of Zantac is your baby one? My LO has been so fussy and I think increasing it would be good but I am not sure if it can be increased. She takes 1ml twice a day.

Re: moms with babies on zantac

  • My LO is on a smaller dose - 0.6 ml twice per day. She is 12 weeks / 9 lbs.

  • My 6 week old is on 0.7 ml twice a day.
  • My baby is ten weeks today, 9.8 pounds and he is on 1.1 mL twice a day. Why is there such differences in dosages?
  • I just called and the nurse said we could increase to 1.8ml. She said its based on weight.
  • My 5 week old is 8 lbs 10 ounces and is on .5 ml, 3 times per day.
  • My 10 week old little girl, 9lbs 14oz, is on .75mL twice a day. I think we need to up it a little bit too!
  • My baby is 7 weeks old, doctor said to take .4 ml three times daily. I usually only give it to him twice daily since baby would wake up crying to eat at night and don't wanna wake up the whole family. My doctor said to give it to him 30 min before each feeding, did your doctor gave instructions as to when to give it to your baby?
  • No she didn't. That's kind of a good idea though. Maybe I'll start trying that. She is just so fussy and I cannot figure out what is wrong!
  • We're on 1ml three times a day which is such a pain to try to keep up with especially since there are many times that it falls right in the middle of her nighttime sleep which can last as long as five hours so I've had to give it late since i refuse to wake a sleeping baby especially when it takes two hours to put her to sleep sometimes.

How long has your LO been on Zantac and us it not helping with fussiness?
  • Ours is 10 weeks and about 10 lbs now and on 0.8 ml twice daily, but we didn't get instructions on when to give it to her. She's been taking it almost 2 weeks now and to definitely helping but I too was thinking a bit higher dose might be better. I give it to her in the morning after she nurses and late afternoon when she still has some feedings left... Don't know if it helps just being in her system or if it's best to give directly around feeding times? That's what we do though.

@shelles423 I'm with you... I'd figure if baby is asleep, the reflux is ok for the moment!
  • My LO is almost 9 weeks, 11lbs 5 oz and is on 1ml twice daily. She has been on it since she was a few weeks old. It does not matter when you give the medicine, it's a preventive medication and it stays in there little body.
  • My LO is on 1ml and will be 10 weeks in 2 days. She weighed 9lb 8oz last week.
  • My LO started on Zantac when she was 4 weeks, 8lbs 8 oz, with 1ml twice a day. One of our friends had to switch her baby to Prevacid and it has worked better for them than Zantac so that may be something to check out. It is a pill, but she says it is sweet so she just cuts it into tiny pieces and he (8 weeks old) eats it.
  • @tandb2272 my little niece who is 4 mo. Just made that switch too. If this doesn't work, I'll definitely ask!

Almost 2 months and taking .5 but I think she needs to have it increased. She's spitting up in large amounts again. It was great up until a week ago. I know they still spit up, but here is a lot.
  • 6 weeks and taking 1.25ml (lo is 10lbs). Currently weaning off of it and onto prilosec. Hoping it works.
