38 weeks with painful contractions lasting 10+ hours that suddenly stop?

2 days ago I started having painful, rhythmic contractions and lost my mucus plug.  I waited all night for them to get close enough to go to the hospital, and around the 10 hour mark, they just stopped! Feeling a little insane, I did a big nono and took castor oil later that day. No fun at all, and the contractions it started are just sporadic. I'm so ready to have this baby after 10 hours of pain. What's going on? Has anyone else done this?

    Still having sporadic contractions and extremely nauseous, but I'm never touching castor oil again. Soaking in the tub and having a heating pad on my back helps a little.

    I'm sure all of us pregnant women already know that drinking water is good but it's even better when you're having contractions, b/c atleast if it is false labor it will stop. I have Braxton hicks contractions, that feel nothing compared to when I was going into false labor one night. They were happening every 5 mins apart and would last 30 secs to a minute. I called the nurse line to my doctors office and she told me to take Tylenol and drink lots of water. When I started drinking all that water the contractions slowly stopped. This false labor for me lasted 6 hours.
