Bit of an AW post... 20 week scan

We just got done with our anatomy US. Going in I was kind of worried since I am almost 21 weeks and haven't felt anything and don't really feel pregnant anymore since I've recovered from the first trimester uglies. As soon as I saw her little heart pumping I immediately settled down. It was so cool seeing her up there and seeing how much she was moving. My placenta is placed in the front (as I suspected) so that accounts for the lack of movement I feel. But, I figure I'll take it. She will be kicking me in the ribs and bladder in no time! The doctor said everything is perfectly normal and we are over the moon excited about it :)

  • That's awesome!! :)
  • Awesome! I had my scan yesterday and cried when the tech turned the volume on so I could hear the heartbeat. I love that sound.

  • Great feeling :-) I'm glad everything went well for you!
  • My placenta is in the front also, it sucks that we cannot feel our LO that much or at all most days. I was really worried before seeing that heart beat for the first time at the AS.
It is such a good feeling to know everything is ok.

  • Ahh I know the feeling! My placenta is in the front as well and everyone has been asking me if I felt baby yet and I hated saying no. It's such a relief when we can see our LO heart beating away!

I have a front placenta as well, congrats on a great scan!!
  • My placenta is the same. The tech said its being used as a shield. I feel your worry, when you get nervous because you don't feel her move or kick. It's always the first question I asked. Does he have a heartbeat.
  • Good news. I have my 3rd anterior placenta this pregnancy with my 3rd girl. It sucks!
I had my anatomy scan today as well and was released from the perinatologist as everything looks good and I am no longer high risk. Happy day!
  • Yay for happy healthy babies!
  • Lol I would just like to say I'm a little jealous! I had an anterior placenta with my first. Now it's posterior with this one and I wish it were anterior again! He or she has been kicking me hard enough to wake me up for weeks already (almost 22 now) and with my first I felt nothing until 19 weeks. It's nice knowing she's in there, but ouch!

Yes, I am not complaining :) I saw her do a Michael Phelps kick from one side to the other and was instantly greatful I couldn't feel her yet haha!

Happy day! Glad baby is well. ;)
  • Thank you everyone! And glad your scans are coming out great too! It's a weird feeling leading up to your AS. You're excited to see them but nervous that everything will be ok. Here's to being more than half way done :)

  • Glad to hear baby is okay! I had an anterior placenta with my first and only felt him move a handful of times. Dr had to do extra u/s to make sure he was okay in the 3rd tri cuz I never felt a thing. It's amazing feeling the kicks this time around.
