hi! I haven't posted anything here yet but have frequently read through out my pregnancy. A little background.. I'm 25 years old, this is my 2nd pregnancy. I have a 21 month old daughter who is the best. My husband and I weren't trying to get pregnant again, but it happened so here we are. I'm 36 weeks, it's a girl!, and ever since my 20 week anatomy scan it's been one thing after the other. First they noticed Ventriculomegaly (dilated brain ventricles) so they did a few follow up ultrasounds. One time they thought they saw a spinal defect and club foot, then the next time they acted like they really couldn't tell. At 29 weeks I had a MRI which came back with some better news. They did not see any spinal defects, her ventricles were still a little big but mild and her corpus callosum was there. At my next ultrasound with fetal maternal medicine they did note although things seemed stable she was starting to measure behind in size. Just her abdomen though. Fast foward to now, her last ultrasound showed the ventriculomegaly was gone and her ventricles were back in normal range. All her measurements are now behind and she was right at the 10th percentile. They also noted a possible umbilical cord cyst that they hadn't seen before. I'm hoping it ends up being nothing. We're discussing induction at 37 weeks and I'm sort of ready. I'm not sure what I'm trying to get out of this post. I guess others' experiences, thoughts and prayers. It's hard to find someone to vent to when they don't really understand what your going through. I feel like I'm constantly on Google which gives me such reassurance(sarcastic eye roll) it usually ends up pointing towards Down syndrome or spina bifida. Which I know we will deal with whatever but it's scary. Thanks for reading this and any info or opinions are appreciated!
Re: IUGR, possible cyst on cord ect ect.....
Our little girl had downs but I definitely know what you are going through. nothing was wrong with my pregnancy until this was seen at 27 weeks. And I thought at that point no point in testing. I ended up hearing something new every time I went to the dr which then caused white coat syndrome and my blood pressure rose the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy. Also I cried a few times because we were being poked and prodded at with all of the u/s and then them testing me for other things. What bothered me more and still does to this day 6 weeks pp is the mass amount of u/s and dr visits where even tho it was downs there isn't anything you can do to fix it and my delivery was normal so there was no point in those 7 u/s in 10 weeks. They would get mad if my lo was in the wrong position to get measurements.
I really do hope everything is okay and definitely feel for you because its the unknown. And you don't really know till birth what could be causing it.
