My water broke. Happened at home, went to he bathroom, stood up and fluid starting coming out, it made a small puddle on the floor. I wasn't sure what happened at first so I waited about 10 minutes and went to the bathroom again, same thing happened but this time when I wiped there was a tinge of blood. Off to L&D...
Menstrual like cramps that would hit at a regular time interval. Took about 24 hours to get worse, but a lot of people were saying BH and I just knew it wasn't! I was right within 24 hours I was in full on labor and within another 8 hours had given birth! Good luck...
First one, none. I was induced but was 5cm when I went in. This time, I've been having cramps/contractions on and off for weeks but last night they got stronger and more regular.

Menstrual cramps that were pretty mild for about 24 hours then became slightly more painful for about 12 hours. Then within 2 hours they went from ok to can't sit through them. At that point They became so painful I had to get to the hospital, my water broke while using the restroom before I left home and she was born an hour and a half later.
Hours of Severe and regular contractions followed by spotting. Went to the hospital and labored there for four hours and my Water didn't break until 30 seconds before I started pushing and it was like someone opened up the freaking flood gates.
It will be different for everyone. Just listen to your body. My midwife said, when the contractions take your breath away, then you will know it's time. I have a really high pain tolerance and they kicked my ass. they literally stopped me in my tracks.
Menstrual cramping for 24 hrs prior to birth. Then contractions were mild but more regular than mt previous braxton hicks had been. Btw, my cx were never completely regular, and I had been waiting for that sign to let me know bit was "time to head in." (but i did refuse pit so maybe that is why?). I had progressively mild to moderate cx every 3-4 minute for about 10 hrs before getting to the hospital at 4cm dilated BUT had plenty of 7-15 minute breaks with no cx at all. This was true up until the hr before I was checked and found to be 7-8 cm. At that point cx were like world war 3 and at short intervals. Not much for breaks!
Got to the hospital around 11.30am, baby born 5.40pm. Good luck!
Thanks everyone. I know I'll know when it starts but still good to hear from others who have done it before. Just hoping it happens soon and I don't have to be induced.
Well, I guess with DD you'd say that I woke up in the middle of the night unable to walk to the bathroom. It freaked me out so we went to L&D and they sent me home in early labor. But I wasn't FEELING contractions at that point. With her to me labor started when my water broke.
With DS my first sign was losing my mucus plug all in one chunk. About 4 hours later bloody show started.
