I am 38 weeks also and have terrible heartburn. Our stomachs have moved up considerably with growing bump hence the acid reflux. Keep taking indigestion meds and sometimes a cold glass of milk can help or extra strong mints! X
In the same boat. I'm 38 weeks and two days. Yesterday my doctor said you can take up to 14 Tums a day. But the bottle I have says only 6 if you're pregnant....? I agree about the cold Milk though! That's been my go to. I am up right now (it's 4 am here) from heartburn and miserable from it. Definitely worse when i am laying down to sleep Hang in there!
Milk is supposed to make it worse... So I wouldn't recommend that? Definitely did for me. Avoid processed carbohydrates like cereals and pastas and bread. Fruit helped me a lot, as did drinking cold water before lying down. Nights where it was the worst, I slept propped on pillows.
Cold dairy works for me too, it's my excuse for ice cream! I had it bad with my first too but it went away as soon as he was born, hoping it does the same this time around too.

I can't drink water with meals & by meals I really mean the random snacks I eat throughout the day, but if I drink milk I'm fine. Then I can have water between. However, I'm VERY sensitive when it comes to certain foods, like anything with tomatoes in it I am in pain for days. But it's mostly finding what your triggers are & trying to avoid them.
I posted this on another thread as well, I had acid reflux before getting pregnant.. Now I have extremely horrible heartburn.. Anyway to take it right away water melon gum will definitely help.. Basically any fruity gum.. Don't do mint it will always it 100 times worse. But try it, I sware by it.
There is a vitamin called "digest more" by healthy trinity. You take them before you eat and the enzyme will help you BIG TIME! I have this soooo bad right now too hope you feel better.
It depends on what is causing the problem. Some heartburn is caused by high stomach acid, some is caused by low stomach acid. Mine is caused by low acid. If I take tums, it will temporarily help, but I will feel even worse the next day. I have learned that I cannot eat processed meats, cereals, breads, noodles, etc. oatmeal is the absolute worst! Apple cider vinegar will ease the burn, and papaya enzymes help to avoid the problem. Also, if your problem is low acidity, chewing gum helps produce more saliva and will ease symptoms as well. Good luck!
Two days past my due date and still pregnant. Baby is way low and I still get heartburn. It'll go away for a few days and come back with a vengeance. I don't think you're in the clear until after baby is born no matter how low he is.
