38 weeks 3 days AND still closed

can't help but feeling a little discouraged that my body isn't really progressing. I thought maybe I would have our baby on or around the due date and now my doctor is brining up how i could really go past.... Anyone else going through similar feelings? Totally don't see myself dilating at all at this point...

    I had an appointment at 38 weeks and I was not dilated or anything, my water broke and I had my baby 5 days later. Don't get discouraged, dilation doesn't really mean much when it comes to how soon you will go into labor. I was upset about it too and expecting to go past my due date, but she ended up being early! Just be patient and enjoy your last days of pregnancy because baby will be here any day!

    Yes, what PP said. I have a very soft cervix, am 2cm dilated, 50% effaced, -2 station and lost my mucus plug... yet show no signs of labor coming soon. No cramps, contractions, nada... so don't be discouraged! Dilation isn't a sign of labor happening soon. It'll happen when baby is ready :)

     

    edited to add: oh and I had my membranes swept! Hang in there, baby has to come out eventually. We're all just impatient in these late weeks!

    You still have a while to go! I am 40 weeks and still locked up tight...stay patient..you never know what your body will decide to do!

    Thanks ladies! I am def getting impatient, but seeing that it is more common than not, I'm just gonna let my baby decide. I just am so ready to meet the LO!

    I'm 38 weeks and 5 days and my cervix is still high and tightly shut. The doctor wants me to go for an ultrasound next week just to make sure she is heading lower and there are no complications. I feel your pain chickie!

    Sorry you are going through the same thing!! It is so very frustrating!! I had an ultrasound this past week to measure baby. Head was down but not sure if it is engaged. When I go back next week I'll def ask that. Best of luck!! It is super frustrating!!
