I know this is super early, but I was talking with my mom last night about my baby shower. Since I'm due 2/2 she was thinking of hosting a shower mid-November. I would be about 28 weeks along.
Her thinking was because the end of November is Thanksgiving and then four weeks later is Christmas, which we all know how busy everyone is between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If we waited until January then I would be due 4 works later, and I would rather have more than 3-4 weeks to put together a nursery and purchase whatever items I still needed after the shower.
It seems like the only time that would be convenient for all involved would be early to mid November. We don't want to burden people with having to worry about my shower in the midst of all of their holiday/family plans.
Is 28 weeks along too soon?! Are we crazy?!
Re: Baby Shower Date- too soon?!
The other thing I am uncomfortable with is having a shower right before a major gift-giving holiday and having people feel stressed or obligated to spend money on us when they're likely already stressing out about gifts for their own families. The timing feels awkward but hopefully it doesn't rub anyone the wrong way.
It's also nice that they aren't pushing for after the baby is born...I had one of those and it was tough. Flu season, so I didn't want anyone to breathe on him. I still felt chubby and didn't want anyone taking pictures, I had to write all my thank you's with a non-sleeping newborn around. I returned a TON that I already had (I mean, I totally appreciated every single thing given, it's just much less convenient than returning items prior to baby coming.) just my thoughts on that subject;)

I'm due 2/3 and looking at the calendar, if someone offers to throw one for me, it would have to be either Nov 14 or 21 so I would be 28-29 weeks. We have season tix for our college's football games, so that limits a lot of Saturday's in the fall. Hubby's parents and sister will be down right after Thanksgiving for a vacation they planned last December and anything later in December would be too close to Christmas. January is out for me since I have mandatory Saturdays/overtime from the first weekend of Jan until March (this year will be until I go out on maternity leave).
