Nipples burn when I leak/pump

my son is going to be a month old on the 13 he was born premature so he had to spend 18 days in the hospital because of that we weren't able to breastfeed. I do pump though and feed it to him from a bottle. My nipples hurt so bad whenever I start to leak or pump. A lot of people always say it's usually latching problems, but since he doesn't actually suck from the nipple it can't be that. What could it be? What can I do to help it? It almost feels like a burning feeling I can actually feel the milk leaving the nipple (I know it's happening without even having to see it) and it hurts so bad! Thanks for any advice!

Not sure, but you are not alone. I do this at the very beginning until my milk isn't being over produced.

Does it last the whole time or Just in the beginning?

The burning sounds like your let down reflex /sensation

It's usually just the beginning 2-3 minutes but there has been times when it lasts the whole time I'm pumping .. I'll have to look up the let down reflex/sensation and see if there's anything I can do
