So does anyone have remedies for sciatica pain? I have tried heat, ice, stretching, nothing is relieving it. It was so bad the other night it was hard to walk! Thanks in advance ladies.
Chiro and massage. Are you doing the figure four stretch? Mine is getting bad too. Some people get better with rest and some feel better with light movement ie gentle yoga and walking. I feel a bit better when I move. Sitting really makes it worse so I try to stand when I work but I'm so nauseous it's hard. Hang in there. How are you sleeping? I sleep best on my back with a pillow under my knees. Sleeping any other way really aggravates it.
I was going to suggest the figure four stretch as well (I haven't tried it yet, but plan on it soon). I've also ordered an exercise ball to sit on when I'm at home because I feel like my problem is probably a posture thing. I've noticed I feel better if I sleep with a pillow between my knees (I'm a side sleeper). I rolled over last night and the pillow slipped out and I've been sore this morning but it hasn't been too terrible.
I'm a stomach sleeper. No matter how I lay to fall asleep, that is always how I wake up. And yes, I have been doing the figure four stretch and every other stretch I can find that claims to be good for sciatic pain. Nothing is helping. I unfortunately have a desk job, so I don't have much of a chance to move around during the day, which I'm sure isn't helping
I had sciatia issues around mid-pregnancy with DS. My doctor had given me some stretches to do in the morning and at night that did help. I also found that getting up from my desk and walking around every once in a while helped keep it at bay. I also had to stop wearing heels and invest in some more comfortable and supportive flats.

I HATE sleeping on my back. It's a challenge but stomach sleeping makes it SO much worse. Side sleeping too. I decided that I would rather be miserable on my back all night than in pain all the time. I sleep with two pillows next to me so I don't roll over. I got used to it somewhat but it's still a challenge. Pick your battles wisely I have a desk job too but when I'm not too sick I will stand and work. Will your employer invest in a standing desk? It's actually a million times better even if you aren't suffering from sciatica per my PT.
Like op's have said, Chiro and stretching. I have 3 herniated discs in my back and the chiro is a life saver. Recently have been having more pain than normal, however I'm leaning towards adding it to my list of preg symptoms.
When muscles over the sciatic nerve get tight they can put a bit of pressure on it so massage in the area can really help but definitely good to see a specialist and its good to find someone highly recommended shop around....I've never had sciatic pain but I've worked on enough people with it to know it's a real pain in the ass (sorry for pun but had to)
I've had major pain too! I got a tennis ball and put it on the painful side, at my lower back. That helps put pressure on the point. Also, try yoga or water aerobics. They help stretch. Good luck!

I may have to try the pillows for now, though with my son, my doctor told me as it got later in my pregnancy NOT to sleep on my back. But maybe it will help for now.
And no, my employer won't pay for a standing desk. First off, they are cheap, but second of all, they way the cubes are structured, they'd literally have to find a new work space for me. I will have to try to get up a bit more often and see of that helps...
I'm suffering from sciatica now but I have always suffered from it due to my occupation and bad posture. It's mainly coming from muscle tension in the very lower back and buttocks. Try pelvic tilt exercise (lie on your back knees bent up, round up back pushing it flat against the floor thus curving your hips up towards your stomach, hold then relax and repeat)..Acupuncture also helps. If you are constipated the muscles in this area would also be tense. Tennis ball is a good idea, sit on it and roll into the buttock to relax the muscles. Hope this helps!
Here's my tube of it. I know it also can come in a roll-on. I got mine from a chiro office, but I have seen them for sale at Massage Envy (if you have one of those near you).
I know this is a last resort fix, but when pregnant with my daughter, my sciatica was so bad I could barely walk. My doctor prescribed me some muscle relaxers approved for pregnancy. My daughter was born perfectly healthy
My Chiro basically said that it's most likely only going to get worse and last through the rest of the pregnancy. But of course for reassurance he insisted I would recover after baby is born. Ok that's really reassuring. I left in tears and subsequently had a massive meltdown. I'm trying to maintain some level if hope that I won't spend the next 7 months in horrible pain. So frustrated.

This was going to be my suggestion too. I had sciatica with my first then slipped a disk in my back with my second. With the second the doc prescribed some low dose safe for mama and baby muscle relaxers. I still take them from time to time when my back acts up. It's worth asking if you're in a lot of pain!
I ordered a birth ball off amazon and it just came today. Totally feeling good while I'm sitting. When I stand I start hurting again. I think I may get one for my office too. It feels really good to roll my hips on this thing.
