What is everyone's opinion on tuna? I have done some research and the articles are just totally confusing. They say no in one paragraph, then its refuted by experts in the next one saying to eat it in moderation for the fatty acids. I had some at a meeting at work today, so now I am feeling a little guilty. Also, I went to my doc yesterday and she gave me a list of the no no foods, and I was surprised to see lunch meat was not on it. Only bologna was. Its so crazy how everywhere you go, things are different. Sooooo do we eat lunch meat and tuna or noway!

Many people are concerned about mercury levels in all seafood, but tuna absorb mercury in the ocean at a "moderate level." I've attached a chart that ranks fish on their Mercury content (if it's too tiny you can easily google "seafood and Mercury content.") As long as you limit the "moderate" ones to less than once a week, avoid the "high" and "extremely high" ones altogether, you should be A-okay!

Anything that's being told to me at appointments I'm following, more so than what I read in articles. Many articles are merely opinions, and it's hard to figure out what's good info and what's not.
And my doc also thinks the lunch meat rule is dumb because the last out breaks of lysteria were in hummus and grapefruit and no one's saying not to eat those.
My doctor told me I can basically eat whatever I wanted as long as it didn't come out of the back of somebody's van. ( a reputable place that stores and prepares properly). He's not a stickler for food as much as he is over the counter meds.
