Who is awake? Insomiacs unite!

Ugh it's almost 5am and I haven't slept yet.  I had melatonin, magnesium and benadryl and I'm wide awake but I'm so tired!   Anyone else dying of insomnia or a west coast bumpie up late?

  • Ugh, I am. It's 2:20. I'd be asleep but we're weaning DS and he's a hot mess. I'm lying on the couch listening to him cry. :( I'm not a fan of CIO at all but he's really used to sleeping in our bed and nursing and the transition back to his crib is rough and we don't really have any other options. It's night 2 of this. Last night I have maybe 3 hours of sleep? Tonight...we'll see.

    I'm sorry you can't sleep, @wagvan!

  • Update: couldn't stand the crying. It's heartbreaking. Brought him into bed with us hoping we can all get some sleep. I still won't nurse him, but maybe cuddles will help. :/

Yes!!! For the first 7 weeks I slept like a champ. Now that I hit 8 weeks, I can't get comfortable, can't fall asleep, can't sleep on my stomach.... You know when you have the flu and you're so hot/cold, uncomfortable, but soooo tired? That's what it feels like all this week. So tired!!! Hope you get some sleep soon!!!
  • Laid awake most of the night worrying about work. So stupid. They made some changes to my job that make me way busier and it is already a high stress job. So stupid. Ugh. STOP WORRYING!!

LO sleeps in our bed for now. We'll move her in September (we have a floor a/c just in our room). I didn't want to wean her and move her at the same time. We weaned a couple weeks ago. Hang in there, mama!

  • Forgot to add, my LO was up a 2:30 thrashing like a wild woman and crying/talking. I think she was having bad dreams? She kept saying, "mama, carry me" and climbing on top of me until I held her. We were talking about butterflies yesterday, and she woke up saying, "ow! Butterfly get me! Ow!"

Thanks. I actually love having him in our bed, but it felt smart to keep him in his crib to make weaning easier, because if he's lying right next to me, he expects it. Nope. But I moved him into our room and he slept from 2-9, so I got way better sleep than I was expecting.

  • I haven't been sleeping well at all.  Every night I wake up for at least two hours and can't get back to sleep.
  • @HBirdie  Thought you might appreciate this one:

"There are two philosophies when it comes to getting young children to sleep. There is 'sleep training,' which basically involves putting your kids to bed and listening to them scream all night; or there is 'attachment parenting,' which essentially involves lying down with your kids, cuddling them, and then listening to them scream all night."

Hahahahaha I love him! And that has definitely been true for us the last few nights. Not usually, though.

  • My sleep has sucked a big one lately! I go to sleep okay but 4am I'm wide awake. Waking up before your kids, during summer, when your a teacher is literally the worst thing one can imagine. It's a crime!

  • Same here! I was up from 5-7, fell back asleep for two hours but an exhausted now. Trying to keep myself awake so that hopefully I sleep tonight!
