Amniotic Fluid Dropping?

I have GD and am 37 weeks today. I was told at my last ultrasound that my amniotic fluid has dropped significantly. My last ultrasound was last Tuesday and my fluid levels were at 9, which is good. This past Tuesday I got another ultrasound  and it dropped from a 9 to a 6. My midwife said if it goes below a 5 they have to induce me. I'm already being induced at 39 weeks and I was shocked! I was told that I need to drink like a gallon of water a day and to NOT do anything that involved sweating at all, and that could get my numbers back up. Has anyone else experienced this?? I am wondering if anyone else has had luck getting their fluid back up by hydrating, because I know GD can cause this too so I don't know if it's out of my control or not. Friday I have another ultrasound to find out, so we'll see!
