im going grocery shopping tomorrow and to Costco. My husband gets paid once a month so I only do this shopping once a month. I got dinners down with menu planning but never get snacks.

What are your favorite things to snack on? I need ideas!!

  • If you like hummus, I buy the big container of that and will switch between a handful of pita chips, cucumbers, celery, carrots. String cheese, strawberries, cherries, a fiber 1 bar or chewy bar, bananas, pretzel twists. Peanut butter and jelly has become a favorite lol I work in a restaurant so for me to have time to eat it's easier to have small snacks ready at all times before I go in for a shift. I have been wanting Oreos and chocolate chip cookies though like crazy!!!
  • Fruit snacks have been my thing.... and freeze dried fruit and fresh fruit and veggies.. I shop for my snacks at trader joes or health food stores so I can have healthy snack options.. But that's because I think they taste better.. But that's just me.. I agree with PPs and just pick simple healthy options..
  • Oh my god- yes to english muffins!!

Otherwise, it's mostly fruit or crackers for me. Olives are nice too.
  • Snacks I have bought in the last week include nectarines, apples, white cheddar popcorn (a big bag cuz they go quick!), bagels and cream cheese, waffles...basically things that I can make in a toaster and quick. You never know when hunger will strike. My favorite summer treat are Outshine fruit bars. So good!

  • Vegie sticks with hommus, fruit, boiled eggs, nuts, dried fruit, yoghurt, crumpets with vegemite, iceblocks and bags of chips.

I am never full though :( Haha
  • What pps said and also you could make a parfait. Plain or vanilla greek yogurt with raspberries and granola. The granola and yogurt should keep you full.

Oh and my co worker gets guacamole in individual snack sizes at Costco. I believe Wholly is the brand. Not sure if you like guac and of course making your own is healthier but they are perfect if you are in a hurry and on the go.
  • Apple slices topped with peanut or almond butter, chopped pistachios, coconut flakes and dark chocolate chips

Rice cakes with cream cheese and cucumber slices

Greek yogurt with trail mix stirred in

English muffin topped with mashed banana and walnuts

  • Fresh fruit is always good! Apples and peanut butter is my go to, also kind bars, cherries, watermelon, small packs of trail mix...
  • I like to have yogurt, orange juice, watermelon and smoothies.. These are my snacks. Yummy!!
  • Lightly salted microwave popcorn, Italian ice, cherry tomatoes, pistachios, bagels, and something sweet like gummies.

  • Throw-in-my-purse snacks: granola bars, fruit snacks/leather, crackers (Amy's Organic Cheddar Bunnies are my fav)

Grab-from-the-fridge snacks: string cheese, strawberries, bananas, greek yogurt with the mix-in side things

I-have-a-few-minutes-to-microwave snacks: personal bags of popcorn, tortillas and shredded cheese for quesadillas

(there also may or may not be a lot of organic dark chocolate stashed in various places my husband doesn't know about....)

  • I've been eating celery like its going out of style... I mix cream cheese and a little powdered sugar and either dip or spread the mix on celery and it is LIFE!!!
  • And Hohos... Hahahaha
  • Apple's and peanut butter, hummus and carrots or pita bread, guacamole and chips, instant oatmeal topped with blueberries (I usually boil the blueberries down a bit if at home then throw that in the oatmeal), trail mix bars, pizza pops (lol very unhealthy), English muffins with cheese whiz, bagels and cream cheese. I'm a SAHM so my favorite to eat lately is a fried egg topped with cheese after you flip it and Turkey deli meat on a toasted sandwich with Chipotle mayo!
  • what everyone of these ladies has suggested!  LOL  I also like to get the case of the grapefruit slices.  But hummus with veggies is a favorite.

  • I was eating a TON of fresh fruit. Like excessive amounts. But it just wasn't filling me so I'd have to eat more. I'm still snacking on it, but I've also added goldfish, cheese and crackers, PB and crackers, and more water into the mix. It seems the water is helping me to curb my appetite just a little. But if I still want food after having some water, I go for it.

I do enjoy hummus... I just get a little tired of it.
  • Sounds like my snacking is in line.  :)  Apples with string cheese, blueberries, grapes, peaches, Kashi chewy granola bars, gummy bears or some type of fruit snack, greek yogurt, smoothies, toast with peanut butter, english muffins, trail mix, carrots and hummus, chips and salsa or guacamole (avocado + salsa, stir), popcorn, ice cream in any shape or form, milk, water and more water.  Chili Cheese Fritos, and the Kettle Cracked Black Pepper chips are also stock piled...
  • Thanks for the great ideas!!

Plain rice cakes with peanut butter. Vanilla greek yogurt. Smoothies. Cheese. Cottage cheese with avocado. Apples. Cherries. Then of course the bad stuff. I just made rice krispy treats (thanks to someone's post on here lol) and I bought a tub of red vines. Frozen peppermint patties are the bizz. Planning on starting my meal preps back up tomorrow. I couldn't stomach chicken in the beginning. Those consist of chicken breast, veggies, and brown rices or lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be eggs instead of my normal egg whites, smoothie or protein shake, and whole wheat English muffin. I did that for so long before pregnancy we'll see if I can tolerate it again.

My mid-morning snack isn't exactly a Costco item and it's grossing my husband out to no end, but our son is on board with me!
Smoothie: 1 banana, a handful of spinach, 3 huge scoops of peanut butter, and enough milk to make it liquidy and not smoothie consistency.
