After membrane sweep..

I am a FTM and have an over abundance of questions that may seem silly to most. But I am exactly 40 weeks today and the doctor did a membrane sweep. She also said I was only 1cm dilated. Obviously baby will be late. But just looking for other mamas stories on what happened after they had a sweep done?

I have read that it generally can get labour started within 48 hours.

I had mine stripped twice with my first son and no active labor came from it. I was progressively dilating on my own each week.

I've had it done twice so far with this one too and still no active labor. I am dilating a little more each week but not as fast as I did with my first.

I did have cramping after each sweep but it didn't last long. I have had contractions this time around but I was having them before the sweeps so I can't necessarily say the sweeps did anything for me.

I had mine done today. FTM and I'm 1-2cm dilated. It did absolutely nothing for me. I at least expected to be a little crampy afterward, but nada! I'm 39+4 today. I didn't go into it with high hopes of it working so that I wouldn't be too bummed if it didn't. I can say that it didn't hurt as badly as I had anticipated. I guess my body just isn't quite ready yet.

I just had mine done today! Still crampy and achey. Like a period kinda. But no spotting. A few BH contractions but nothing extremely painful or out of the ordinary. My dr said if it's going back to work, it will work its magic within 48 hours.

I had mine today as well... I have had some spotting but other than that NOTHING. No cramps, no BH, no contractions. Guess it didn't do a thing for me. And I am 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced and -2 station.

It never worked for me with previous pregnancies, buy my SIL went into labor just hours after being stripped with all 3 off her DD's. It's different for everyone.

I had mine stripped on Monday June 29th and she was born Wednesday July 1st Canada Day

I had mine done and doctor said probably wouldn't do anything at all. Cramping started that night which turned into contractions, baby was born at 2am : ) my doctor was surprised that it worked!

With my 2nd I was 3 days overdue and I had my membranes stripped and my water broke the next day at 3am. I was 4 cm dilated..

With this pregnancy I am between 1 and 2 cm. I've had my membranes swept last week and the week before that and nothing. My due date is on the 10th.. she swept me early because I always go overdue. I'm still pregnant. Lol

Had mine done today and all that has happened is cramps no discharge after or anything. I'm still hoping though ! 38 Weeks 5 Days also a FTM !

Had it done last week at 38+6 which led to two days of cramping then nothing. Just had it done again today at 39+6, crossing my fingers for labor to start soon.

Just had it done yesterday. Cramping and spotting all day yesterday and all night and most of today. But, nothing has intensified. Just a nagging dull back pain. Contractions were coming this morning at about six min apart, but they weren't painful, just annoying.

40+2 wanted one today but my cervix is still high and closed Dr couldn't even get a fingertip in !

Never had it done, but my understanding is it will only work if your body is ready, it will sort of push you over the edge. But if your body/baby is not ready it does nothing.

I just had it done at 40w6d, my date to induce is Friday morning at 7am. I am praying this works so I am not induced.

Had it done yesterday morning followed by slight cramps/ contractions and brown discharge and then normal until today when I noticed some more reddish-brownish discharge. Is that considered a bloody show? Kinda confused because baby hasn't moved for a couple hours and no contractions....

Anyone gone thru this?

40+3 I had mine done this morning for the 2nd time. I was at 2cm and 80% when she did it last week and I was the exact same today..even though I had a lot of contractions and I did lose my mucus plug Friday. I feel more crampy this time. I am going to be induced as soon as a room opens! (Very small hospital) Hopefully tomorrow!

Aw, I'm hoping the OB will do it for me tomorrow at my 40w check up. Based on how my body feels, I'm guessing I'm dilated at least a couple cm, but have had nothing but BH and random pelvis pressure for days

I'm ready to meet this LO! Hopefully the OB is just as anxious :P

I had mine done at my 39 week appt yesterday and also at the 38 week appt. still nothing!

I was hoping it was start something but nope

looks like if I don't have baby by next Friday the 17th I'll be going on at 7am for an induction. Hoping baby boy decides to come on his own before

I had mine done at my 39 week check up. LOTS of bloody discharge. Dilated to a 4 & NOTHING. I am now 40+2 & still waiting. My first was 2 days early, so I'm a but bummed & a while lot impatient.

I am having mine done tomorrow if baby's not here by then I will b 41+1 and just want my bubba here now. Fingers crossed it works as I was induced with my first and really don't want to be again x

Update*** membrane was swept (yesterday)Wed at 4pm, water broke (today)Thursday at 8pm, here I am in labor! Exactly 12 hrs before my scheduled induction! I am exactly 41 weeks today. Baby should be here sometime in the next 12 hrs they are predicting :-)
