So these might sound like dumb questions but I ate a hot dog today. Should I be concerned? Also last week I went to the dentist. They knew I was pregnant and recommended I get the x-Rays. All the reading I have seen says to not have x-rays done but they assured me there was no research stating anything was wrong with getting x-Rays as I wore the lead apron to protect my body. What do you all think? I plan on asking my OB at my next visit
Re: Hot dog and x-rays
Hot dogs... I ate one at a baseball game last week with all the toppings and it was the bomb! I wouldn't sweat eating a hot dog either. Obviously, hot dogs aren't the most nutritious or natural things to eat, but everything in moderation is ok in my opinion.
Far as x-rays, I've heard mixed things. But seems as long as you are in a specific week of pregnancy and have something to cover the belly area should be fine, especially since the focus was on your skull.
At first I thought that the hot dog was somehow supposed to interfere with the X-ray? Then realized that she was worried about two separate issues...
Heat those hot dogs up & nom nom! I got the nitrate free ones because the nitrates gave me headaches & gas while pregnant. However, I ate some hot dogs like a fool when I was pg with DS (July EDD). With spicy relish that was Heaven. I didn't even need a bun!
The X-rays should be fine with the lead shield. You aren't getting them every day or prolonged exposure.
Repeat with me folks: you are pregnant-- NOT MADE OF GLASS!

I had a dental xray done last week; no problem. My midwife had to fax over an approval before they would do it, and since I was there for a broken tooth they only did am xray on the affected tooth, but it was fine. Nbd.
And no, there's nothing wrong with eating a hot dog.
I've had like ten hotdogs. I fly through Chicago once a week, come on!
As for the X-ray, I'm sure it's fine but I have opted to wait to get mine until after baby comes. My dentist wil not do them during pregnancy, anyway.
