I'm sadly with you and I've never been so cranky and irretable in my life. Grandpas tar soap does help. It smells like an old man by a camp fire but it's worth it. I have been using that and then aloe gel straight from the refrigerator. The coolness shocks the body and takes the burn/sting away for a bit. Does yours turn to big welts at all? If so, ice packs tend to bring those down quickly if you catch the outburst early. Don't be shy with taking Benadryl. I'm one who was always against medication while pregnant but there are days I literally could not function without it. Good luck hun, it's miserable. Don't let anyone down play what you are feeling. I consider myself as a pretty tough girl but thinking about having this for 11 more weeks kills me. That said, I know it could be so much worse! Let me know if anything else works for you!
Thank you! I wonder when it will stop spreading? Mine started July 1 and everyday it is spreading further. I am now covered on my stomach, back, legs and arms. I'm using the tar soap 2 x a day plus topical steroids 2x a day. When I'm crazy itchy I also take Benadryl. It is pretty bad.
I don't typically post on here but I also have puppp and understand how miserable it is and if I can help in anyway I will! I started itching horribly when I was 34 1/2 weeks and after 3 days not being able to sleep or concentrate at work I decided to go to the doctors. He initially told be to take Benadryl and referred me to the dermatologist, I bawled when I left the appointment because I didn't know how I could stand another hour of the itchy let alone the 2-3 days it would take to get an appointment with the derm! I took matters into my own hand and called the derm and demanded an appointment the next day, luckily I got in. I was seeing a certified mid wife for my appointment but now I am required to see an OB because they say a lot of woman end up inducing. I would like to go naturally but I could totally understand why someone would choose to go early. The Derm prescribed me the topical steroid and told be to take 2 Zyrtec a day. They also recommended Sarna lotion which is OTC, I purchased mine at Wal-Mart. It has menthol in it and temporarily stops the itching. Cold baths really helped me at night to stop some of the itching. I also did a lot of research online and heard great things about dandelion root extract pills/tea and grandpa's pine tar soap, which I see you are already using. I will tell you my routine, I am not sure what exactly worked but I am 36w 5 d and the rash is almost completely gone. Good luck, I know this isn't just an "annoying rash" like I have heard it be describe. I hope you find some relief!
I had pupps too. I agree with all of the above remedies. But what really helped my itching to ease a little was a menthol-based lotion like Gold Bond or a mentholated muscle rub. The burn makes the itch go away

2x zyrtec per day
2x Dandelion root pills per meal
Topical Steroid only on rash
V8 (I read somewhere this helped)
3x shower per day with grandpa's pine tar soap.
2x Benadryl at night to help me sleep
