Baby sleeping hard

My LO scared me to death this morning. He went to bed around 9 last night and didn't wake up once. I woke up at 8 this morning and went to go pick him up and he didn't move. I shook his leg and tapped him to get him moving and he barely moved. I had to make a loud noise to get a reaction and I started freaking out picked him up real quick and checked his feeding schedule. I got him to wake up enough to eat and after he had food he was somewhat awake and smiling at me. Have any of your babies slept that hard before? It was probably the scariest thing I ever went through thinking something was wrong with him.

Re: Baby sleeping hard

  • That hasn't happened to my LO, but I think I would react the same way! So glad he woke up and was fine. If it were me, I would call the doctor to ask about it. Can't hurt! If it's normal, that will be reassuring, and if it isn't, they can know and can check things out. Best of luck!

  • That sounds scary! When my LO is deeply asleep, she usually is hard to wake up. You may have gotten him in the deepest part of his sleep cycle. My daughter has been consistently sleeping from 7:30 to around 6, but one morning she slept until about 7:15, when I woke up in a panic. She was completely out, though, and I woke her up to feed her without a problem. That being said, it is always alarming when she sleeps longer than I am used to.
  • That happened to me with my older daughter. Freaked the poop out of me! I was seconds away from screaming for my husband. It happens when they are in a deep sleep. Did it get your heart racing?!? Ugh, hate that feeling! If it bothers you, ask the pediatrician about it, just for comfort of mind.
  • YES! This happens frequently for my LO and my dr said she just sleeps like a rock and just know that if she's breathing she's just fine.... I freak out less now but still makes my heart skip a beat!

Omg yes my heart was going crazy! I was home by myself at the time and I picked him up so quick after I made the loud noise. He didn't do it this morning and was up way before his normal time but I hope I never wake up to that experience again. I feel like I aged a few years lol
