Awesome. How old is she? The reason I'm asking is because we were told by our pedi to go in by 18 months and it seems a little early for my son to be able to understand no biting the dentist/open your mouth. He's 14 months now unless he changes crazy fast. Maybe I'm just scared.
My sons ped told us not til 3 years. I think it depends on ur dr. I'm really not looking forward to it. He freaks if a stranger even touches me let alone himself..
I went to the dentist last week and asked when I needed to bring my almost 2 year old son in and he said not until 3 also. I'm not really pushing it because we just got him to let us brush his teeth.

She's 22 months. I called to schedule an appointment for me and asked when it was recommded for her and they said she can come in whenever. She's had all of her primary teeth for a few months now(started teething at 3 months!) so they just counted her teeth and looked as best they could. They didn't attempt a cleaning nor attempted to forcefully open her mouth. He made her giggle and laugh and just went with that.
They said her teeth came in pretty close together, so she will likely need braces when her permanent teeth come in. But they will try again in 6 months to see if she's more receptive. She did give the nurses kisses as she was leaving
Most say 3 years old for the first visit, but it depends on the dentist.

We are having trouble getting her to let us brush her teeth. I feel like DH and I brush 537864 times a day to show her it's not scary.

We had so much trouble with Ashton (21 months) brushing his teeth. We let him do it, tried it in the bathtub, in his room, with me doing it, etc. Every way he put up such a fight and just wanted to suck off the toothpaste. Then 2 days ago something changed and he likes it now! About a month ago I got him a new toothbrush - the banana one - and he seems to really like it. I'm not sure if that has something to do with it but whatever it is I'm so so thankful. It was starting to stress me out. Fingers crossed that it will stick!
I have my DD appt scheduled my dentist is really hard to get into so a month after she turns 3 she will go to the ddentist. Glad your daughter did so well.
My son didn't go until 4 but he is very hesitant around new people so I got him a book about the dentist at the library and we talked about what would happen and what he needed to do. He did great and absolutely loved the dentist. I can't get him to sit still for a 20 minute tv show but he sat up in the chair and even got X-rays!
Moving around a lot as a kid, I dealt with some not-so-great dentists (one scolded me for crying when he made my gums bleed scraping my tartar)... Good to hear your LO handled it well!

What a cutie pie!! I took my older two boys starting 19-21 months. They went every 6 months, this was just for them to get use to the idea of going to the dentist. They didn't do much, just looked at teeth and gave them a toothbrush. But at 3 they were able to go back for a full cleaning with no crying or neevousness. I am going to bring my LO 17months at the end of this month to start him. I think it's helpful to go early.

It's always great when the dentist visit goes well. Your daughter is a cutie so no worries, AW away.
You know how I got my son to go to the dentist at 18 months? Bribed him with sweets. Sweet irony.
