Just called to pay for my meds and my copay after insurance was $275. I asked the pharmacy rep, out of curiosity, what the out of pocket (oop) cost was without insurance. She said over $11,000!!! What?!

I don't always complain about ins but don't necessarily appreciate it either. But today, I am very grateful!

I left a job to get better insurance. Now I have 25,000g cap on infertility procedures/meds. I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

I just sucked it up and paid for it but also got a lot of help from the out of pocket meds program on the bump

First round we sucked it up and paid it. This time around we're using some buffer from a home equity loan we took out for an extension on our house and over-estimated on. Next round? Who knows! That second job at Starbucks looks pretty good to me

I took out a huge loan (only ONE place would give me a high interest loan with a 735 score) and then squeezed every penny I could. It's more stressful than all the infertility almost.. It's terrifying for me to have such a huge loan and my income isn't always guarenteed and if I lose my job I'm pretty screwed. We have truely truely struggled. But I couldn't live with myself not having tried.

I have a catastrophic insurance plan that doesn't pay for prescriptions or the actual doctor visit fee ( My employer pays 100% of premiums though so all in all it's been a good choice SO FAR) ( If I got preggo, doctor visits and hospital meds are 100% covered though) So far all I've had to pay for was Clomid (not really bad) and Progesterone supplements. When my doctor prescribed me the Crinone, she suggested to me to see about getting progesterone compounded into a vaginal cream. I'm so glad she did because the crinone was around $300 a month but the compounded cream is $50 for two months!!!

I've been paying out of pocket so far. My insurance covers the consultations and ultrasounds but we've been paying for the iui procedures, clomid, and ovidrel out of pocket. I just switched RE's and his IUI's are $130 more than the previous RE's and they do more monitoring so those more frequent copays and stuff will add up. I believe we will be paying almost $500 more with this new RE. So I think we will try this plan every other month rather than every month straight like previously. I wanted to switch though because the old RE just wanted to repeat the same dosage and plan of action as the other 3 BFN cycles...I'm sorry but if your RE isn't reevaluating at cycle 4 there's a problem...it doesn't haven't to be something major...but something!!

It is brutal. The new specialist I'm seeing is actually known for getting women pregnant without IVF...I met one lady who used him off and on for 2 years doing IUI and finally got triplets! I know some ppl don't think IUI is worth it after a certain number of cycles and want to go straight to IVF but sometimes it's just not possible. There are many women who don't get pregnant after 3 cycles of IVF too...

I've decided that in the event I will have to do IVF, we will just do a money back guarantee program. We have one here in Cincinnati that's like $25,000 for 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles.
