I've craved an ice cold beer so bad this pregnancy, its killing me lol. I had 1 sip of my hubbys and it tasted so delicious! I'm 29 weeks pregnant, what are your thoughts? Even just a half a beer?
I have a few sips of my husband's craft beers here and there. Isn't a pint of beer about equal to a glass of wine in terms of alcohol content? If so, I don't think one would hurt. I was drinking an alcohol free O'Douls at a bbq over the weekend and my grandmother-in-law thought it was a real beer at first and told me to go on ahead, that one wouldn't hurt at this point. She isn't the first person to tell me something along those lines. I think it comes down to what you and your doctor are comfortable with.
I haven't had a real beer but I have taste tested some new summer drinks that my sisters & mom have had. I was craving a beer this past weekend so I had DH pick up some Busch NA for me. It was good ice cold but I didn't drink it fast enough so when it got warm, it was nasty. I'm not against having a real beer or a glass of wine at this point in the pregnancy but I don't want to be judged by other people who might see me drinking it so I've just stayed away.
I've had a Small sip of SO's a few times. I crave beer really bad as well. What has helped is getting some non alcoholic beers. Best I've found so far is Sharp made by Miller Light
Yes and it was amazing. Honestly it is silly to think that one beer is going to possibly hurt a 32 week baby. To each there own but I say if you are craving why not have half a beer.
A beer, a glass of wine. I say have one and enjoy. It's not going to do any damage. Do some research on your own about it if you are on the fence. I enjoy a glass of wine about 2 or 3 times a month after 1st trimester and I truly enjoy the taste. I'm not getting drunk or even buzzed. Several studies show that you have to consume 3-5 beverages every day and even then fetal alcohol syndrome happens less than half the time w alcoholic mothers. Not condoning drinking during pregnancy at all!! Just my personal opinion.
Have you tried NA beer? Personally I wouldn't drink any amount while pregnant but there is some studies saying a little bit is OK, you can always ask your doctor her opinion. I think the NA brand my husband drinks is O douls and he likes it
Absolutely dying for one, and summer beers are my favorite!!! But I just keep thinking that I only have less than 2 months to go and how much sweeter that first beer will taste knowing I held out for the duration of my pregnancy.
I have a beer or glass of wine after dinner when I want to. I've read every study and article I can find on it, and can't find any research that says there is any harm. Doctors though will tell you that no alcohol is safe. It's really up to you to decide if you trust the research and other countries recommendations or if you trust the doctors and U.S. recommendations. If you have a child that has learning disabilities, are you going to blame that one beer you had at week 31 for example. Some people find its not worth the worry or guilt and that's completely understandable. It's a similar decision to taking passengers in your vehicle. You have to be confident and safe enough in your driving in case something does happen. I have read enough that I am confident if there are issues it will not be attributed to any alcohol I've consumed. Just like being a parent or selecting a life partner, only you know what the right choice is for you.
I've had a couple sips here and there and about two weeks ago I had six ounces of ice cold hard cider. It was sooooo good but as soon as it started getting warm I was over it haha. I let my friend finish the bottle. BF is very against me drinking at all but personally I think a small serving every once in a while late in the pregnancy isn't going to hurt.
I've had a few sips of wine here & there, but it made my face super red & hot afterwards. So I haven't even tried any alcohol since then. A friend of mine just had a beautiful baby girl on July 2nd. For the last couple weeks of her pregnancy she would have a glass of wine at night & her little girl is absolutely perfect. I've heard moderate use is ok, but to each their own!
Oh beer sounds so good! I had a sip of my husbands sometimes, he works at a liquor store so when he gets new one he always brings them home to try them out. I'm too afraid to have any more than a tiny taste, too many scary ifs with this pregnancy already I'm sure half a beer would be fine, they say moderation is okay. I can't wait until, she is born so I can have this avocado honey beer!

Avocado honey beer? Who makes that? I love avocado and honey on my sandwich (in fact that would be sometimes all I ate in my 1st tri) so a beer must be good as well.
I had been craving a beer for months & on Father's Day I finally decided to have one. Had a st. Arnold's Lawn Mower. Had about 5 sips of it over a good amount of time & it was soooo good!!! Tasted better than I remembered! Ended up giving to DH to finish. I haven't craved a beer since, so I'm glad I gave in & had some!
I've tried quite a few na beers and I think the best is called clausthaler. They usually only sell it at specialty liquor stores. Kaliber is good if you like darker beers. If you want something easy to find odouls amber is pretty good.
I've had the tiniest sip of beer but it wasn't even worth it haha what I really want is a joint but I wouldn't dare touch that til I pop this little girl out
In these hot days I just want to chug a ice cold beer but.... I have not taken a sip of anything. I have taken a sip of coffee which I also love very much and feel so stinking guilty when I did.
A sip of this, a sip of that every now and again is fine in my book. Haven't had a whole drink of anything, but a swig of hubbies IPA at the ball game, or a sip of my sister's Mike's hard lemonade at a BBQ. Seems harmless enough. But I'm with you. Can't wait to go get a cold one from my local brewery as soon and I'm just me again.
Not sure if your a wine drinker, but something that I have been doing since I found out I was pregnant... Every other payday I buy a nice bottle of wine (for me that means $25+, something special I wouldn't normally spring for). I now have a small stock pile of special treats! Can't wait to explore my wine fridge down the road!
I haven't had any, but I'm in the to each their own boat when it comes to substances you put in your body while pregnant. Moderation and honesty with your doctor and it's fine, I think. I take a few prescription medications already, though, so even though I know it's on the irrational side, I just feel too guilty adding anything else to the mix of potential (albeit small) risks to the baby. It was hard to resist the alcoholic root beer we saw at the grocery store the other day, though! And hard cider. Damn I miss me Angry Orchard's ginger cider.
I could really go for a Mad Jack Cider or a nice tall can of Coors Banquet. I may have a couple sips of beer at my BBQ baby shower in a couple weekends. I don't see the harm in a few sips here or there or one beer especially this late in pregnancy.
My husband and I are huge craft beer junkies-it's a hobby and we also collect. I feel your pain. But I have had beer(beyond a couple sips) since starting my third trimester. It's all about blood alcohol levels. My cravings have been for lambic or sour beers, and I was able to find a 3%er that I drink. But you have to be comfortable with your decisions-that's what it boiled down to for me And it's hard sometimes too depending on who you are around and what their opinions are. So if you do, save yourself the drama and be mindful of spectators/opinionated people
@v1wwo it's by the Island Brewing Company. I hate avocados but this beer was yummy! He says it's one of the best selling at his market.
Thanks for the info! I see they are from CA so I may not be able to get it in NY. I will go to my local beer store (Beer World and it has over 200 different beers. it use to be a grocery store but over the years they are making more room for beer lol) and see what they can do about it. It will be interesting to see the store owners faces when a pregnant woman comes in and says "I have a craving for this beer!!!"
I don't like beer but I have been wanting some wine. I haven't had a drink since we started TTC and as much as I want to I will hold off it is only a couple more months. I don't think a small sip will hurt though. Persnally once my SugarLump is out I am heading to Applebee's for a mudslide!
