Daycare for Twins

Hey everyone! I am a first time mommy, expecting twins in December. I'm in the Cypress Tx area, and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on daycare. Do places normally give special rates for multiples? Thank you for any help.

Re: Daycare for Twins

  • Yes, ours gives a 10% discount off second child when they're full time.

  • Mine gives 20% off the second.
  • This link has helped me time and again while searching for childcare. I like that you can sort whether they provide food or not, too. We've only used in-home daycare, but have researched centers, as well. We're in Central Texas. I don't have experience with multiples, but know that sibling discounts are available at some in-home daycares and most centers.

  • I don't have twins myself, but nannied for a set for about a year. I've also worked at daycare centers for about 10 years, so I've compared the cost of a home nanny vs. day care. Just speaking from what I've experienced, in home nannying for twins (depending on the area you live in) is more cost effective and also a lot less stressful! I have had a ton of success with care.com! Good luck with your little ones!

I was going to suggest looking into this as well. I don't personally have twins either, but my SIL does. Before they were in school, it made much more sense for her family to hire a full-time nanny than to pay for 2 in daycare, plus before-and-after school care for her oldest. As a nice bonus, a full-time nanny will often do some cooking/cleaning/laundry as part of the job description.

However, we live in Canada, so the rates and/or job descriptions may be very different in your area. I do think it's worth looking into though. :)

This was also what I would suggest. Then again, the cost of childcare here in Massachusetts is the highest in the nation because you have to have one caregiver for every three infants. At an average cost (including all of the areas that you would not want to send your child to day care in) of $16,500 for a newborn in daycare, it makes much more sense to have a nanny stay home.
  • You may also want to look to see if you have a local board. Often times people are looking for a nanny share

I don't know if its in all states but Care.com has been suggested to me by many NJ moms~ supposedly highly reliable, trustworthy & reputable.
