Hi everyone- I hope its ok posting in this forum, I wasn't sure which was the most appropriate for this issue.  As a background, a couple of years ago we experienced some difficulty conceiving. Around the year mark I was diagnosed with luteal phase defect and were able to conceive after I was treated with crinone.  We are starting the process of TTC again (my spotting and short LP seem to have cleared up so I am waiting to jump to crinone again for now)  Anyway, a few weeks ago my husband was diagnosed with chronic prostatitis. (He was experiencing some discomfort and reddish/brownish discolored semen (ie hematospermia)- sorry its gross I know)  He was unsuccessfully treated with a course of ciprofloxacin, and went back to see another doctor who prescribed doxycycline. The pain and discoloration went away after that. He asked if it could affect his fertility and the doctor couldn't really give him a conclusive answer.  Now we are TTC and we noticed last night that his semen had a pink discoloration and I am worried the prostatitis is back. He wants to wait a few days to see if its still there or if it was just a fluke as it was very faint and he thinks it may be from having so much sex recently.   Anyway my question for you guys is, has anyone's partner experienced chronic prostatitis and do you know if it can impact fertility? I just am wondering if we should go back and ask for a semen analysis and another course of antibiotics or wait it out. My husband asked about a SA at his last visit and the doctor said it wasn't necessary. Both doctors he's seen took a very causal approach to the chronic prostatitis and were pushing for a wait it out approach.   I don't want to get my hopes up if theres an underlying issue with him.  Thanks in advance

I have no experience with it but my layman's guess is that anything that causes inflammation can't be good for sperm count or quality.   I don't play around with infections of any kind so I would probably want him to get checked out sooner rather than later!

Too much sex doesn't cause injury to the prostate.   Men seem to want to take very laid back approaches to these things so pressuring him probably will not help.  GL!
