    I think Piper is a cute name, fwiw :) Everyone is going to have their own opinions. If their reactions really bother you, just don't share the name until she is born. People will still have their opinions and might still dislike the name, but I would imagine most people are less likely to find it appropriate to voice their opinions of a name already given to an adorable newborn.     I like it a lot...but it reminds me of Orange is the New Black so that's an association to consider :-)

    I think it's a great name! :D I've never scene Orange is the new black so I am one that wouldn't get that association. :-S

    Piper is different but not crazy. IMO different type names can always lead to being picked on but I don't think that name is so crazy that she'll be destined for ridicule I think it's cute!

    Rather than Orange Is the New Black I think of Charmed. Anyway, I love the name Piper but it's one we seriously considered. When we were throwing a few names out and asking a few names it was one we didn't get any negative reactions to so I'm surprised you're getting so much of it.

    Our solution was to tell most people once the names were picked and only after they asked. We were clear these were the names we were going with and there would be no change and we've gotten some questions on how we chose them but people have contained the negative opinions pretty well.

    Even if you're having issues now, PP's are right, no one will argue once there's this cute baby in front of them.

    One of the ladies in my local mom's group has a little girl named Piper. I haven't heard it anywhere except on Charmed. I think it's a cute name!

    She's my favorite on that show! The actress who plays her was also on Picket Fences.

    I think of the actress Piper Perabo (I love her as Annie Walker in Covert Affairs! She was also Violet in Coyote Ugly), it is the only place I have heard the name other than the nursery rhyme about the "piped piper." I have never watch Charmed or Orange is the New Black. For some reason I think of female olympic skiers/snowboarders, was there an athlete recently named Piper?
