MIL vent!!!!!

today was my first day back to work. It was a last minute decision to work today otherwise I wouldn't have gone back until Thursday. My MIL was the only available option to watch my son because I didn't feel like I had enough notice to give the babysitter. She said she had a doctors appointment and we said that would be ok to take him there but that was the only place. If she had a lot of other errands to run then I would have just stayed home today. She assured us that she wasn't taking him anywhere else. My SIL works with me and she kept informing me that her mother and my son were at Comcast and then about 30 minutes later they were at a furniture store and all of the staff members were taking turns holding him. Then she repeatedly was sending my SIL pictures of my son all day but never once would send me a picture knowing it was gonna be hard to leave him with this being the first full day away from him. He is formula fed and he was supposed to eat at 1130. He eats every 3 hours. The last time he ate was 830. Well I heard her talking to my SIL and she didn't end up feeding him until 1234!!! My child is not a toy. Am I overreacting??? My SIL asked her mom if she was gonna bring him by to see me and she says no they had more things they needed to go do. I was so mad I wanted to leave work and go get my child. I work at a hospital and it's not that easy to just dump my patients off on somebody else.

How frustrating!! I would be pretty upset if she had all that free time yet was too busy to bring the baby to visit you! I understand she had things to do but people need understand how hard it is when us mamas go back to work! I still have two months off and am already dreading going back! Hang in there mama, and once you have your cool about you have a talk with your mother in law.. I also work in a hospital and I know how it is having no leeway in leaving early or even getting consistent breaks when I go back I'll be on 12hr shifts which will be killer being away from baby :( so I can totally sympathize..

  • I would be LIVID if I were you. This is exactly why I will not be leaving DS with my MIL for a very long time. She keeps hinting at wanting to babysit and there is NO WAY I will be leaving him with her. I know she will do something ridiculous like try to give him real food or something. Yes. I do believe she'd do that.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Sigh. MIL's...

I don't think you're overreacting but i think you should calmly talk to her and try not to make a big deal of it, otherwise she'll get defensive

My lo had her first vaccine on sunday and i didn't take her to see my in laws and since, even though i love with them, because i know that they'll keep holding her in all the positions they know if i turn around for a second. My brother and sil are having a baby soon and i know that i will respect my sil and her parenting when handling my nephew, so why is it that i get in laws who wont?!
