What are good nicknames for amethyst?

I may be losing my mind going through hundreds of baby girls names...who am I kidding?! I'm losing my mind all over the place and redecorating the house like crazy, for no apparent reason. Anyway, my husband and I are considering the name Amethyst for our baby girl. What kind of nicknames could we use? How do you feel about having thhe word meth in aMETHyst? Does anyone else consider that silly stuff when naming. We also like Lila or Ivy.

IMHO.... Amethyst sounds like a stage name for a stripper. Please don't name your sweet little girl this. Lila is an absolutely beautiful name! Go that route!

  • I love the name Lila! Amethyst is not my style but pretty.
  • I like Lila also.
  • Yep I think about these things too (one of the reasons I didn't want to name our daughter Leilani was because I imagined kids making fun of her with lay-on-me). The part about meth didn't even occur to me. I think it's a pretty name but don't know of any nicknames.
  • Emme as a nn?
  • I picked names that I felt they couldn't get teased for.
I was going to say Amy for a nick name too
  • Yea, amethyst is not my style either.
    Ivy and Lila are nice.
  • Amy would be a good nickname. I like Lila! We are naming our girl Lillian, Lilly for short. Kinda similar, but I like it!
  • Ami. Pronounced like am-E
  • "thys" as a nickname? kind of like in divergent she went from Beatrice to Triss? i like the name Amethyst! its unique
  • I say go with what your heart says the baby name is. I think all three are beautiful names. I'm doing a unique one as well, "Maleficent". Yep!
  • I would call her Am.
  • I like it! I'd use Ame, or Ames. I'm having a boy and still using a name I only ever heard once and it was in a TV show. Thayer. I already call him Thay or T bear/Thayer bear. I have a younger sister named Violette (15 years younger) and for some reason I call her Mosey or Mo(and i still don't know where the nn came from) as well as Vi or Vee. A nickname can really derive from anything or anywhere.
  • Cool name!!! Am would be my nickname

May be years late but …
    That was so rude 🙄
“Not my style” or say nothing at all.

But For anyone else who stumbles across this
    “Amethyst” is my given name
“Ame” (AM- E) is what I was called as a little one / family calls me
“Amie” is what I typically use in daily life now if a nickname is needed as an adult

I won’t explain the depth of how “Amethyst” came to be my name..

But stones that have provided comfort and protection and spiritual guidance for no thousands of years…

Only thing tasteless was your comment :)

Frankly, I’d rather share a name with a stripper than someone who shares opinions in the way you do.

Strippers are some of the hardest working and best moms I’ve met !
  • I'm a few years late too, but nice to meet you Amethyst, my name is Amethyst also! (recently turned 18) and I get a lot of compliments on my name. It felt kinda sad that someone thought it sounded like a name for a stripper. I totally agree with you. Lila is quite a boring and basic name (other replies help prove the point). I also have those nicknames, mainly Am or Amy (Am-E).
