Second-time around, not feeling flutters/movement?

Hi Mommies and Mommies to be,

I'm 17w5 days pregnant with the 2nd babe, and still have not felt flutters/popcorn/rolling/kicking.

I thought the second time around, i would feel it much faster, but...nothing. i'm gettin a bit nervous. Any other STM else over 17 weeks+ waiting for those first kicks????

Re: Second-time around, not feeling flutters/movement?

  • I'm not 17 weeks, only 15, but I felt my first flutters really early with my 1st (13/14 weeks) and I haven't felt them yet with this baby.  All the books say anytime between 16 and 25 weeks is normal, even in 2nd pregnancies.  I know it is hard not to worry, but I wouldn't worry unless you were getting past 25 weeks and still don't feel any movement.

  • I'm also STM. I felt DD around 15 weeks. I haven't felt really anything with this one yet and I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow. I have a little more padding this time around leftover from DD, so that may contribute, as well.

  • I'm 18w today and I just asked my dr this question this is my 3rd pregnancy and she said normal is around 21w to start feeling movement.
  • I'm 18+1 with my 4th and I've not felt anything yet! Any day now I'm hoping to feel something! X
  • THANKS Ladies. All your answers were big help!

  • I'm a STM too and haven't felt kicks yet (19 weeks on Thursday)
  • You probably have an anterior placenta. I felt DD at 17 weeks and this one at 18. However, I only feel this one when I'm laying on my side and I feel "bumps" on the side. Nothing in front at all yet due to the placental placement.

It's a little premature to say OP probably has an anterior placenta. She is in the normal timeframe to not have felt anything yet.

My perinatologist told me that's why I didn't feel this baby earlier than the first. Just giving her an idea of why she may not be feeling this one as early as the first.
