Hoping some of you second (and third, and fourth and . . .) timers can provide insight here. Thanks in advance!
We went to Babies R Us and Target last weekend to look at nursery furniture. We went to a few stores yesterday and back to BRU to again look at crib & dresser we liked last weekend. We are both really like the Sorelle Chandler Classic crib & dresser.
First question:
Hubby asked last night if we should go on and buy the furniture.
Last weekend, all cribs & furniture were 15% off at BRU. That sale ended on 6/30. Yesterday, I noticed that the current sales 10% off. Is it likely that the sale will go back to 15% off (or higher) in the future? If we buy now and it goes on a better sale, does BRU refund the difference?
Second question:
The set we're looking at offers a crib, a 3-drawer dresser with changing table topper, and a taller, 4-drawer chest of drawers. Are all 3 pieces needed? I'm leaning towards no, but would like to hear from you.
Re: Ques about sales @ Babies R Us & nursery furniture
Also, worst case scenario, ask for the sale price at 15% off... All they can do is say no.
As for all three pieces, I do think it's excessive right now, but if your crib converts into a full size bed, your teenager would probably need the dresser and chest.
The other issue you may run into is wear and tear. Some people have kids who chew and teethe on their cribs (and maybe other furniture?) and so you may not really want to be investing in what you might think is lifetime furniture but ends up being rough looking in a few years. My kids aren't furniture chewers, but I guess you have no way of knowing what your experience will be (though I recommend not leaving them in their crib to chew on it).
We are planning on using this furniture for baby & toddler stages, but don't expect it to last through the teenage years. @kdoak2015, we also talked about drawer space and neither one of us used 2 dressers as kid/teens...just one plus the closet. I didn't think about arranging clothes in closet by size, but that's a good idea, @LC122! I arrange by season, but that's more appropriate when everything is same size.
@BostonBaby1, great idea. Maybe Hubbs & I can go by late one night this week to try & score discounts. I usually avoid salespeople because I hate feeling hassled or pressured. The couple of times we've been in BRU, they were busy. I was thankful everyone was tied up and we were never approached.
@BellaM110 - I called our BRU and they do not accept the 20% coupons from Bed, Bath & Beyond. What a bummer! Guess that only happens in city's that also have a Buy, Buy Baby. Hope you don't have any problems.
I agree, @amm0512! I think anything baby or bridal is marked up like 200%! As if having a baby wasn't already expensive enough.
So sorry for your loss, @Embuzz247! I'm happy you scored the furniture you love and send prayers for a rainbow baby to sleep there soon.
@EEB88 - glad to hear about completion coupon. I can see using that to pick up odds & ends, but not sure if we can wait for furniture ETA the smiley that fell off.
When we bought it I used my 20% off coupons I got in the mail for registering there every month. So I bought them each a month apart. I then went on to buy the convertable pieces with coupons later on. Good luck!

THIS IS FALSE. I called our Babies R Us and they do not honor Bed, Beth & Beyond coupons. Maybe some locations do, but not all. I am figuring that BRU will accept the BBB coupons IF there is a Buy, Buy Baby in your city as well (which isn't the case for us).
