Gestational hypertension and inducing

Any other moms have gestational hypertension? I've been on bed rest for about a week as I am borderline to having preeclampsia and my doctor would like to induce at 38 weeks. I am currently 37 and 3 days. Any advice to keep blood pressure at bay and inducing advice? I'm going to the Dr. Every other day for nst, blood work and urine testing. Being on bed rest is killing me as I want to get up and do things... Anyone help!

  • I am a ftm as well.

  • I am a FTM and having the exact same issues. I am 37+5. The end is insight!
  • I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax. Distract yourself - read a book/magazine, watch TV/movie, breathing techniques, create you'd music playlist on your phone, free up storage space on your phone in anticipation of the big day, etc. You have 4 days until your LO will be in your arms. Don't stress which will raise your BP and don't think about things you want to get up and do... Try and believe all you want to do is rest and keep both you and LO safe. Good luck @krkmpage

  • I'm in the same situation. I go twice a week for nst and bloodwork/urine. I am 39 weeks today. And haven't talked about induction yet. I'm on bedrest. Ready to get things moving!
  • Did yours come on suddenly? Mine came at 36 weeks 4 days. My 36 weeks appt was perfect with no problems. I had some pains from work so I left ea dead and went in. That's when they found it.
  • I was just diagnosed with this last Tuesday as well. Randomly came on for me. My doctor wants to see me Tuesday and I'll be 37 weeks + 1 day and if my BP is still high then she's going to induce me by Friday. Unfortunately nothing I've seen that can be done just taking it easy.
  • Those of you that have been diagnosed, what was your blood pressure reading?

  • @Emeraldeyed315 mine was a couple different readings. Yesterday it was 132/90 and that's the highest it's been.
  • I just got diagnosed with preeclampsia 2 weeks ago at 35 weeks , I woke up one morning with the worst migraine, nauseated and weak, I got ready and went to work and on the way to work I vommitted from the motion of the car, I brushed it off as a miagraine and when I was at work I was standing and started feeling dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out, so my boss took me to the clinic and my blood pressure was 140/90 , I called my doc and I went in and they had me do the 24 urine test and I had high protein and so now he is going to induce me at 38 weeks which is next Monday ... I haven't really felt bad since my diagnosis but I am so ready to have this baby haha ! Good luck to all of you having issues! Here's to healthy moms and healthy babies !

Thanks! On Thursday my first reading was 138/98. They redid it 20 minutes later and it was 128/85...but said it was ok for now.

  • I think part of it is doctor discretion too. My doctor seems all for getting baby out and me calling when I have issues but the last 2 times the on call doctors haven't seemed worried at all even about my blood pressure.
  • My bp runs anywhere from 130s-150s top and has been staying around 100 for bottom. I have to check it every couple hours at home while on bed rest and keep record of it to take in to my appointments.
  • So my water broke today so we don't have to wait to be induced! Baby will be here soon.
