I'm pregnant not disabled

Anyone else being treated like they are disabled? I'm 31 weeks and noticeably pregnant. Just yesterday we went to the lake to pop firecrackers and my husband kept trying to make me sit down and my sister kept offering me water ,after I kept saying I was fine. The other day we were at the mall and my mother asked me a million times if I wanted to sit down on one of the benches. My 8 year old daughter is convienced I need her to tie my shoes, so i just let her hehe. I know they all mean well and just want to make sure baby and me are ok but I'm not disabled :) It's all actually sweet

  • That's really nice. I'm 20 but people think I'm 15 so I get dirty looks. Also it seems like people at the grocery store try to run me over with their carts. I hear how strangers are so nice to pregnant people but I guess I won't be one of them. Lol watch out for the old people shopping! They target us!

  • I either get really nice people who feel like I shouldn't lift a finger or people who expect me to lift 100 lbs no questions asked.
To the nice people I just smile and assure them that I can do the majority of stuff I did prior to getting pregnant, and the people who assume I'm the hulk I just smile and say I'm sorry but I'm pregnant and will have to call for help.

I guess it really all depends. I have some nurses I work with that give me a hard time. I cant always tell if they are being snarky towards me or if I'm extra sensitive; ) One nurse made a comment about hoping there wasn't a medical emergency because I lived in the bathroom. My feelings were actually hurt.
  • My employees literally don't let me do anything at work. It irritates my soul! My husband also fussed at me for carrying a basket of laundry.. really dude. Don't get me wrong, I love the help when I need it but I can still fend for myself in most cases.
  • It bothers me when I am capable and people are determined to make me do nothing. It's one thing to offer, but to force me out of a task.... grrr. Yeah, I had a lady bump me with her cart today.... um excuse me. Rude no matter what!
  • I have a job that requires some lifting, no more than 25lbs and I've done it for quite some time before I was pregnant but people at work don't let me lift a thing, and scold me if they're around to see. I know they're just looking out but I have to complete my job. My parents and sister are even worse though, they don't let me lift ANYTHING, my dad doesn't even let me open doors at restaurants or anything lol. It's very kind but also, sometimes frustrating.
  • I think my mom thinks I'm made of glass and could shatter in an instant ... I was on a 1-foot-tall step stool getting a dish down in the kitchen and my mom said, "Be careful! Do you need help?" My mom is a notorious worrier though, so I'm not surprised, and she's just so excited for her first grandkid. I actually don't mind the help ... with this huge belly and tired feet, I do feel pretty helpless at times! I'm REALLY looking forward to being fully functional again and not in pain :)
  • Oh my gosh!!! So glad others feel this way. I am a very independent person and when others act like I can't do anything it infuriates me! I'm prego not handicap. I continually try to tell them nicely that my OBGYN said I can do anything and everything I did before pregnancy unless it causes pain. They don't listen.
