30 weeks - Low back, hip, pelvic and thigh pain!!!

This is my third pregnancy and so far has been very good overall. But OMG the last few days have been HORRIBLE!!

It started with a burning feeling under my left breast. I've had it for awhile but mostly ignored it thinking it was a bit of a heat rash or my underwire digging in. Well a few days ago it started getting a lot worse, so I took off my bra, checked for a rash and nothing. It is just really sensitive. I've Googled it and I think it is just a normal nerve pain as my stomach stretches.

THEN, a few days ago I was at work, stood up from my desk and was struck with horrible back, hip, pelvis and thigh pain. It hurts a bit when sitting or lying down, but mostly hurts when I first get up and when I walk around. It is usually OK if I stand still, seems to improve a bit after I have been moving a bit. But if I am stationary for a minute and then try to walk it is very painful. I think this is also normal pregnancy pelvic pain that some women get, but OMG does it hurt and I never experienced it with my other two kids.

This morning I also had a horrible pain in my mid-upper stomach, it felt like I had pulled an Ab muscle. That pain is now gone. Baby movements seem fine, so I'm not worried.

I am just really uncomfortable. Not sure how I will deal with this for another 8 weeks.

Anyone else feel like me? Has anyone found a way to get relief from these types of pain? I'm going to talk to my OB about it next week but thought I would come here and complain a bit to some ladies who likely understand what I'm going through or have dealt with it.

Re: 30 weeks - Low back, hip, pelvic and thigh pain!!!

  • My doctor told me physio, chiropractor, or massage therapy. She told me whatever my insurance covers or my preference I could try but I haven't yet. My pain (hip, back, butt) comes and goes if I overdo it. I find at night lying on my back makes it worse. I have to sleep on my side but sorta on my back with pillows shoved all around me and it takes the pressure off and I usually feel okay in the morning.

  • Welcome to the club. It's miserable and so uncomfortable. Nothing helped with my SPD but delivery and still hard afterwards since having #4. Try taking a warm bath, sitting on an exercise ball, chiropractor/massage, a maternity belt or physical therapy.
  • I have that back and hip pain! It's awful when I first stand up. When I first try to walk I'm shuffling like an old lady and hunched over as well.

    Almost there!!!
  • I've also experience that pain in my hip. I think it's sciatic nerve pain. I got hit with it so bad yesterday, I couldn't put any weight on my left leg.

I've had the pain before though, and it was really bad for a couple days but was gone after a week or so. Hopefully it goes away soon again!
  • My hip pain occurs at night from side-sleeping ... I'm rolling over every 2 hours to give each hip a break! That, combined with my acid reflux and constant runny nose/nasal congestion, is making me VERY anxious for baby to make its appearance in 10 weeks!
  • I get the achy hips and lower back pain when I first get up to walk around, when I'm work especially. I feel like I'm an 80 year old woman at times!
I assume it's normal and my body is just getting prepared. As bad as it sucks at times, it makes me happy to think that my little boy will be here soon enough!
  • This hit me today. We just got back from a 4 day trip to visit his family. I've been confined to a truck and off my workout routine. Yoga really helps my hips and back.
  • I could have written this a few weeks ago. I actually cried thinking it would last the duration of the pregnancy. Mine at its worse lasted a few days and then got sooo much better. I also ordered a support belt and that helps during the day. 3rd pregnancy in 4 years and 31 weeks today.
  • Oh I have the same pain, it's awful!! I'm going tomorrow to my OB and I plan on asking if it's normal or not because the pain brings tears to my eyes (I'm pretty good at dealing with pain but this is something terrible). I'll let you know what my dr says to me tomorrow! Feel better!
  • @SLang2 so my dr said that a maternity belt could help the pressure and pain. Good luck!
  • My hip has started to hurt and I also have trouble when first standing up and walking. I herniated a disk a few years ago and figured the baby was agrivating it again. Feels exactly like it did after first I injured it.
