Too much baby weight??

I'm 21 weeks and a day and I've gained 30 pounds. Granted I'm 5'5" and only weighed 105 when I got pregnant (itty bitty), but is anyone else on this crazy level of weight gain? I walk every day and try to eat pretty healthy, at least well balanced.

Your body will do what it needs to.
If your eating pretty well, and not going crazy with carbs and sweets I wouldn't worry too much.

This. I'm a firm believer in everything in moderation and not stressing about weight while pregnant.
I gained more than 60lbs last time and lost 40 the first week home from the hospital.

  • I lost about 15 pounds during the first trimester because I only wanted healthy stuff.. That has since ended and I have not only gained that 15 pounds back.. But an extra 10 with it..

Agreed^. Also according to your height & weight by BMI calculations you are considered underweight. It is common (and some Drs recommend) to gain more. I started this pregnancy 10 lbs lighter than what I weighed at the start of my last pregnancy. I've also gained 8 more lbs at 18 weeks compared to last time.

I started this pregnancy at the same weight, and as PP mentioned, my doctor said that since I was underweight they would like to see me gain a bit more than average. I'm almost up to 120 now at 21 weeks, which had me a little worried because it's a little higher than the recommended weight gain schedule I have. But really, what's most important is that you're eating well and taking care of yourself.
  • I know if you are considered underweight you are supposed to gain more. 28-40 lbs. for the whole pregnancy is what my pregnancy book says. Your doctor will for sure tell you if you are gaining too much.
