Dehydration

hey everyone. I woke up this morning not feeling good at all and really thirsty. I was at the pool all day and made sure I drank a lot of water but I think the sun over powered my consumption of water. I know many pregnant women end up going to the hospital to get the fluids. When is the moment when you know you need to go.

Re: Dehydration

  • I would sit with your feet up and drink as much cold water as you possibly can. If you still feel bad after an hour I would call and see what your doctor recommends.

  • Iv felt like this since 11. My doctors office is closed
  • Your OB office should always have an on call nurse . A lot of times you have to wait to press a button allowing you to speak to one or wait for one to come on the line.

Otherwise do what you feel your body Needs you to do
  • The general rule is to ask your doctor about their policies, but I was treated for dehydration and preterm labor several times with my first. If you're having several hours worth of cramping and/or Braxton hicks that aren't letting up with changing position and drinking water that's always a good sign. Generally with my first I would get an ill feeling that wouldn't go away, I didn't necessary feel like I would throw up, but I just felt like I couldn't catch a break.
  • Check your pulse and blood pressure. If your pulse is over 100 that's usually a sign of dehydration. Also pinch the back of your hand. If your skin stay up for more than three seconds then you are dehydrated.
  • Thank you everyone
  • Hello. I'm 18 weeks and 6 days. I was in my local L&D two days ago because of severe dehydration. I always drink all day and wake up during the night to drink. However I woke up with a headache the other morning that felt like my head was splitting open and very faint feeling. I tried to hydrate myself but to no avail it didn't work. I needed 2 bags of fluids and lots of rest. If you have a doubt and can't reach your doctor please go in. Its better to go in and have nothing wrong then not go in and have everything wrong. Hope you feel better soon.
  • I was in the hospital not long ago from being dehydrated from a hour and a half outside. I was vomiting, and couldn't keep any liquids down. If you can't keep anything down, or are having vomiting or Diarreah I suggest you go get some fluids thru a it
