Fed up with false labor

Has anyone else been having symptom after symptom of labor followed by nothing? I've lost my mucous plug, had extreme back pain, am 2 centimeters dilated, felt enormous pressure, and experienced numerous contractions. Tomorrow I'll be 40 weeks. I'm overly anxious. This morning I had continous and painful contractions. I tried not to get excited by telling myself it probably wasn't the real deal. Unfortunately, I still got excited so it was a major let down when they stopped. Who else is experiencing the same frustrations? Are there any STM or TTM who have encouraging words?

I've had this a couple of times, contractions that last a couple of hours and then just stop, I hate it and the emotional roller coaster is even worse than the physical pain. Hang in there.
  • The roller coaster is definitely worse than the pain! Hopefully it'll be soon for all of us.
  • Yes, yes, yes was due last week and getting impatient... Waiting is soooo hard, esp since I'm not working full time anymore... The days feel so long and usually my symptoms pop up in the evening.
  • Due date was yesterday, lost parts of mucus plug and had contractions all day 6 minutes apart. Later that night got down to 5 so went to hospital....contractions on screen showed 6-8 minutes apart....had terrible back pain and pressure when I walked. Had only dilated 1 cm but nurse did tell me when I was to have strong labor pains I would prob go fast because my cervix is loose and very soft. And babys head is stationed at -1
  • Wow! It sounds like I shouldn't be complaining. Some of you have experienced a lot worse than I am. Hang in there ladies. Every day is a day closer.
  • I am so so glad that I'm not the only one!! I'm sorry we all have this in common but it's so nice to know I'm not alone. I'm finding that the more active I am the worse the contractions are. They always come right before I'm falling asleep! The other night I had contractions 2-3 minutes apart for 58 minutes. Just as I waited for that last contraction they started becoming irregular and varying intensities! What a wreck I'm becoming. These contractions are no joke & im trying to not get myself too excited every time they happen. I haven't gone to the hospital yet. I can't imagine the emotional roller coaster of that trip home! Hugs to all of you!

  • This again and again!

My first son surprised the crap out of us and showed up very quickly at 36 wk 3 days. There were several last minute preparations to complete still.

This go around, baby boy #2 is driving me crazy. I've been 4+ cm for 2 weeks now and having contractions off and on every day. If only my water would break, he'd been here in no time. I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and he measures 2 wks ahead. My water has got to break soon, there's just no more room for him to grow.

Ftm, 4 days overdue, I have no clue if labor is coming on or not. It is annoying. I just want my baby here!
  • Thank you for posting! I needed to read this. I'm so fed up also):
  • I'm in the same boat. It has been a full week of physical and mental exhaustion!! It helps to hear that others are going through the same thing.
  • Yep, made the same kinda post earlier. My water broke with my first two so I knew without a doubt it was time.
  • Yea this exactly. Two weeks of symptoms and sent home from the hospital once after thinking I had a slow leaking water break mixed with contractions. Had all the symptoms and midwife kept saying any day now. The pelvic pressure from how low his head is is unbelievable. Between that and my hip going out of place from sleeping on it I'm going insane. When I turn to get out of bed its like I'm a beached whale in a lot of pain as my hip slides back into place and the pressure hurts. I was due the 3rd... Still waiting and the heat has me miserable. To add to it I woke up freaking out turns out I was dehydrated.

Hang in there you're not alone. So done with being pregnant and want to meet my little man so bad.
  • I've had strong, regular BH contractions every night for 7 nights now.  Some cause so much pain that they wake me up.  DH thinks I should call my midwife but each time they have dissipated in the morning.  It makes me nervous; I don't want to dismiss the contractions when they evolve into "real" labor.
  • So good to read these posts. I'm trying not to anxiously wait for her but my body is sore, the contractions just keep coming and going, and she is so low in my pelvis - it feels like she is trying to push out at times. We had contractions this Saturday 5 minutes apart, for 1 minute, for over an hour but then they never intensified -- they just teetered off. *sigh*

I think it might be exhausting my husband more though haha. He's so ready - telling me to sit on the yoga ball, massaging my back and feet, asking how to induce labor...lol. It's cute :)

We're so close ladies! Hopefully when it's time we'll have clear signs it's go time :)

It's great that your husband has been so supportive. Mine has been too. He had a week off of work and pampered me the entire time. He normally works six or seven days a week so I felt bad he spent his vacation giving me back massages, cooking, and waiting on me. He would practically reprimand me if I tried doing anything to show my appreciation. I'm so excited to see the kind of father he will be.

I just keep in mind that my doctor told me last week when I went in "if you THINK you might be in labor you're probably not". Meaning if you even can & have to think about it you're not he says you will know… Seems weird but make sense

I love that. That's what I need to hear. It's like all these signs in isolation COULD be labor, but there really must be a point when you're convinced it's coming. May that point please make itself known sooner rather than later :P
